I am not saying at all they pulled red dead. Maybe it was mafia... who knows??? I am just pointing out that SOMETHING was pulled because the lineup was weird as the Days Gone was nothing special to have two separate showings. Usually E3 conferences end wth something BIG and Sony ended very unusually.
A new Red Dead would be a super huge announcement, it's possible a demo was cut due to the shooting, but no way they wouldn't show something. There's plenty of time to change the footage (Litterally just walking or riding a horse would do) or even just throw up the logo with music.
They wouldn't cut a big reveal of any kind, the positive press of having a new game vastly outweighs the negatives of tweets that they don't have to respond to and will be forgotten in 2 days.

Maybe I'm just used to it from watching WWE but you do understand that they have control over the audience, right? They can mute them and pipe in cheers or they could just fill the audience up with employees. Look at Microsoft's conference and tell me there aren't a lot of the exact same shirt in the audience. Look at any presentation and you'll see just how infrequently the camera focused on large shots of the audience's faces. E3 is an advertising event and crowd reactions mean nothing.
