Skyward Sword is canonically the "first" game in the timeline, which means the Knight Uniform is the first time the hero wears green and the green clothes become legendary.
Of course, they could always make a new game set before Skyward Sword nullifying that, which I think they might be doing with Zelda U. But they might also adhere to Skyward Sword being the origin of the clothes, which is why Link only wears blue.

Well I think that's just because MGS was dialogue-heavy, but MM has some dialogue that seems to try to deconstruct something.

They literally can't do any worse than last year, this year's EA, Bethesda and Ubisoft. No, the problem is that Nintendo is lazy on developing the mysteries presented in the actual lore and instead turn to pointless item shit like the Master Sword because items are usually connected to the game's retarded gimmick.
There's plenty of great game potential dotted throughout their lore, they just don't give enough of a fuck to base a gimmick and its game around that.
I just hope the overworld is not flat as shit and the soundtrack is solid. Skyward Sword soundtrack was horribly bland.

There isn't some mystical moment that decided that all future incarnations must wear the same clothes. SS Link is wearing a knight uniform. MC Link is just wearing regular clothes and coincidentally finds a magic green cap. OoT is just Kokiri fashion. TP Link is wearing the same tunic as SS Link. A handful of other Links are basing their fashion off of previous link's legends.
