So, let's assume this is true, how are they selling a $300 piece of hardware capable of rendering 4k without being sold at an unjustifiable loss? What will the Xbone be sold at? Because if it's only $50 cheaper, there's no point and might as well be discontinued, and if it's $200, then it's still being sold at an unreasonable loss.

What was Microsoft thinking?
>>
Capable of rendering 4K video*

Thats not a giant expensive leap

Youre confusing Slim with Scorpio
>>

It plays 4k blu-rays, it doesn't render 4k.

They have to sell at a loss at some point if they want to remain relevant in the console space. Sony has sold 40 million PS4s, thats a gigantic lead on MS.
>>
>>341225051
It's not rendering 4k video games, but 4k films and TV shows. The newer chip used in the console provides a little extra overhead that some developers are taking advantage of, like the Gears of War devs.

This thing is not being sold at a loss, that's for sure, and I'm certain the Scorpio won't be either.

>capable of rendering 4k
yes, movies

Microsoft has tremendous amounts of money.

Sony just barely avoided bankruptcy and started making some profit.

Guess which company can sacrifice selling a high powered 4k console at a loss and which company cannot?

Even the dumbest of niggers will buy a 4k cowadudy xboner for 250-300bux vs a PS4 which will cost 500-600 (or 300 but 1080pLOL)

So, wait, this isn't the Scorpio? What the fuck?
>>
It has 4k blue ray and playback. Also slightly better specs. Not 4k games. That's Scorpio. Scorpio won't be 300. I hope it is around 500.

It's already beginning. If you're confused, imagine the average consumer?
>>
It's too late to sell at a loss in this multi-platform intensive generation. The influx of people new to consoles will be trivial, the next sweep in sales will be Neo vs Scorpio in console faggotry.
If you have a powerful PC less said the better due to raw specs.
Neo has more exclusive games at release date, VR options making it more expensive in the long run, but the console itself most likely less powerful but designed for 4k and VR anyways.

Reminder that multiplats has always rendered at the lowest common denominator, but both consoles will render 60fps 4k easily in an ideal situation.
It would take a further 2 years to develop games with tweaks that surpass their competitors on the new hardware if last cycle was to determine developers adapting speed.

Big wallets, thinking that keeps a business division afloat forever. Are we in preschool levels of economic comprehension?
>>
>>341225672
Reminder that this generation was such a failure for Microsoft they had plans to go digital away from the console market.

Being bitch slapped by steam when?
>>
>>341225051
You can theoretically just starve the competition out of the industry by offering a phenomenally better experience at a lower price. I'm not sure that anti-monopoly laws could stop Microsoft if they decided to just start selling supercomputers for $299 each. God knows they can afford it.
>>
>>341225847
The average consumer doesn't know scorpio exists. Right now all they will see is a smaller console.
>>
>>341225051
This is the Xbox One Slim, it can only render 4k videos, as in movies. Still need a 4k TV for that.

The Xbox Scorpio will apparently be able to play 4k games. That certainly won't be $300. I'd imagine it'll be around $800-$1100. At that point you're better off getting a PC. Especially with the entire library being on PC now. Only time will tell.
>>
>>341228116
That doesn't work normally. That's very loss dependent, as well as reliance on markets that have no better alternative.

Also, define supercomputer, because they can't sell multimillion dollar super computers for $300 if that's what you're. But there are companies that sell relatively cheap prebuilts and that doesn't get them anywhere.
