Remember everyone was fighting, that's why it's called A WORLD WAR. Principally they were Askari, European led but African formed groups that operated in the African colonies. Germanies African Askari in particular served with distinction, resisting the more numerically superior British for the entirety of the war. America obviously had the Harlem Hell raiders,a and was actually the odd man out because they didn't want them and loaned e them out to the french instead.

There are documented cases of women dressing up like men and trying to participate, and some countries literally enlisting women as active combatants, like Russia. No, but if you're going to base a game around a historical event it may help how compelling it is if it actually is a decent reflection of how that historical event occurred.
I like Dynasty Warriors games despite the fact that they are unrealistic insofar as their gameplay mechanics go because I find the part of history they use as a context to be interesting and by and large they hit upon what actually happened in that period.
It doesn't have to be 100%, but you should at least stick to some things.
