It's the big turning point in the casualization of the modern video game. What's funny is that for all the shit the new game is getting for being "cinematic", the old GoW games STARTED THE TREND OF CINEMATIC ACTION GAMES with their overly elaborate setpieces with minimal gameplay and autowin QTE sequences and a heavier emphasis on story even though the story was shit and Kratos is the worst character in an action game ever made by humans and possibly those made by robots. It was one of the bigger games pushing for padding length with stupid block pushing puzzles and climbing sequences that do not even qualify for gameplay that would later go on to influence games like Uncharted and the New Tomb Raider. Most of the things people complain about in games NOW can be traced back to fucking God of War.

If Ace Combat 7 is shit I am ending our ten year long relationship, Sony. I mean it. I have been having sex with PC for several years now, and I never told you, Sony. If you want good, technical, and complex combat then yes, yes they are. Sure they have shortcomings, but that's not why people play those games.
The gameplay of God of War was NEVER the strongpoint of the series because the games are fucking trash mechanically. They're pure power fantasy wrapped in the illusion of challenge. God of War 1-3 were okay, ranging from 5-7/10. If GoW4 was just more of the same, I wouldn't touch it. I will give this a chance since they're switching up the gameplay. But I'm not sure how well a melee combat focused game will work with a 3rd person shooter camera angle like that. Also looked slow as shit, and GoW was slow enough already.

You might be right. I really doubt it (my guess is the game will be God of War with an extra dash of The Legend of Zelda), but it's possible. My point is that as of now there's no sense in getting so asspained because the only thing we got is a glorified cut scene. Judging from a tweet Barlog like'd, I doubt the ax is even going to be the main weapon. He'll probably get some kind of swords again.
