Have you maybe considered that because he only has a basic axe and this is probably early on in the game his moveset is still limited and maybe later on it gets crazier? I don't know I for one liked it, and while I didn't finish them all (didn't have a PS3) I liked the old ones too and am optimistic about the changes.

God of war wasnt just about the gameplay.
It was about ripping through hordes of enemies made of paper mache in amazing areas, good art direction, animals that looked real, with amazing music brutalitly.
All of it toegher made god of war great.
The only reason ascension didnt sell so good was because they sold it right before the ps4 was coming out. Nobody wanted it.
If Ascension was a Launch Title for PS4 with amazing graphics like Second Son we wouldnt have this stupid ass God of War game today.

It was literally the worst series of its genre. It released in the same time frame Ninja Gaiden Black and DMC3 did, that's embarrassing. The kicker is the series never improved past that while new series to the genre like Bayo and MGR came out and were still better and just further cemented how much God of War should have just bowed out quietly. With this change they can make the series something that can be an above average game in its genre rather than be laughed at.

1. I don't like the cinematic experience which seems to be the only thing ND can do now.
2. I don't care for the atmosphere as I am really sick of ruined/destroyed/post ap setting, it's annoying now.
3. The characters are irritating, Ellie is almost as irritating as Elena from Uncharted.
4. The gameplay that consists of hiding and seeking or avoiding or taking the risk of stealth is not fun here, it may be the the lesser of the evils and I am sure the first 3 things have more to do with this.
5. I am taken out of the stealth experience with a spaz Ellie running about, it's hilarious desu but it's also pretty :\
6. The story wasn't as amazing as people said, I don't blame the game, I blame the media.
7. This is probably gonna trigger a few people but I personally didn't think the visuals were that great, they were mediocre at best, no I am not a PCFag either.
