I'm thinking that like Conway's Game of Life, it's possible to make a game with simple rules that naturally branchout into every other genre of game.
Those rules being:
>Players spawn by inhabiting robot bodies that are linked to spawn beacons, both of which are constructed by and also programmable by players
>The environment would be Venus so making something inhabitable that doesn't fly is hard, though possible
>Until broken into constituent parts, and if they are not just an object of a single material, all objects operate as a "black box" with autogenerated rules (based on their construction) as to what interaction leads to what effect
>Certain objects will have these rules deliberately modified irrespective of the components, and thus until broken can have unique behaviour. For example, the brain of the robot the player controls, or unique goods brought in by interplanetary trade (purchased with real money to give those goods high value)
>Playing as a human is possible, though it has implications such as biological requirements and being able as well as having to come from offworld

What I can see occurring as a result of that is:
>Piracy and the fun kind because just blowing a ship to pieces then picking up the wreckage doesn't work on Venus
>Stealth games, because how do you deal with a colossal enemy airship except from the inside?
>Dogfights, because the only way you can have something fast is for it to be heavier-than-air, and the only way to keep something heavier-than-air is to use an airship as a carrier rather than have the heavier-than-air thing as the main weapon
>Shooters, as an airship can easily become disputed territory
>Grand Strategy, because with the rule of players only spawning on other people's ships, although they can decide to go totally separate as soon as they own or have joined another ship they can also just become part of the fleet
>Economics and trading because all the stuff you build the ship out of has to come from somewhere

btw
>inb4 idea guy
I know how to make it, I don't know if I have the idea correct or not.
>>
>>341140598
Sounds like it would be shit even with a three billion dollar budget.
>>
Why did you do this thread again?
>>
>>341140826
What would you even do with more than a hundred thousand for this?
The idea of the game is very little is actually programmed in.

>>341140932
Derailed into everyone just saying "idea guy" despite this being something I actually intend to program at least as some simple Javascript+WebGL thing.

I didn't read the thread, but can you post more Awoo when you post? Thanks

awoo just for you
but you must make a relevant post for more

Ok I'll try

>it's possible to make a game with simple rules that naturally branchout into every other genre of game

I think if you try this, you'll fail in almost every catagory. The budget and scope of such a project is not feasible, I doubt any company can tackle it. Its best to find at most 2-3 genres and try to nail them.

>The environment would be Venus so making something inhabitable that doesn't fly is hard, though possible

Try a completely fictional planet that could possibly exist in our universe, that would appeal more and give you more freedom to make the world you want.

The rest of your points are hard to discuss since you're trying to make a game that does everything and will result in nothing being made, and if it does, will likely be so shallow, that casuals would get bored of it
>>

The idea though is that the games it branches out into are deliberately outside the scope of the project, in much the same way gliders aren't mentioned in the rules for Conway's Game of Life yet still exist anyway.

Forgot awoo
>>
It sounds like a really stupid idea because everyone knows that the community of an open world survival crafting game will never be anything but garbage. The second any one group pulls ahead they're going to make the rest of the game totally inhospitable and impossible for new players to get into.
>>
>>341143235
I've never read it, so I'm not fit for this conversation, I will leave with the notion that hardware wise, its not feasible as well with the amount of space/computations/algorithms going on in the background.

Thanks for the Awoos though, much appreciated
>>
>>341144084
That's why you spawn on already existent ships.
