... how is this news? Of course they're working on a new Elder Scrolls game. Did you think that after TESO aborted that Bethesda were just giving up on their cashcow?

I feel like the fact that there WILL BE a TES:VI is kind of needless. It would pretty much inevitably happen.

It's just a question of 'when?'.

And given Bethesda's tendency to constantly push forward development schedules and release half-finished games, it's probably been in development since Fallout 4's was released.
>>
Reminder that they'll be using the same engine they made Oblivion with.
>>
>>341121486
Just curious. Will the current gen port of Skyrim support town mods on console?
>>
>>341122750

they'll NEVER pull it off anyway.

it's gonna be Hammerfell, black people being WE WUZ SAMURAIS N SHIIET sells like hot cakes right now, and with Redguards it's actually canon.

Not to say I wouldn't prefer somewhere else myself, but I am curious where you'd like to go?

We've covered Cyrodiil, Skyrim, Daggerfall (okay, admittedly not all of Hammerfell), and Morrowind...

So we've got High Rock (which would feel too samey to Cyrodiil if you ask me), Summerset, Elsweyr, Black Marsh, and Valenwood.

Some people do suggest since Elsweyr and Valenwood are kind of small, they could be done together.

Alternatively, we could go right off of Tamriel and start looking at Akavir.

If I weren't much in the same boat, I'd say you're making me sad.

I also enjoy Bioware but those feel a bit less like RPGs and more like visual novels in many ways. Tali route was overrated.

>>341125780
Elven feet are tiny because they were original avians and spent most of their time flying with the aid of magic. Their weight is still significantly less than most other humanoids and small levels of inherit magic in their blood make them only lighter, thus their lower legs suffer from some bad developmental atrophy.

Some elven kingdoms have worked to correct this with royally mandated leg-days.

>>341125151
To be quite honest, I would prefer Elsweyr myself, especially since, as mentioned, we've done hammerfell (well, daggerfall), but Hammerfell probably would offer all the options Bethesda would like for a popular game:

>Swordsinging replaces shouts
>Dwemer Ruins
>Just Exotic enough to be cool but not so much its unfamiliar
>Human default protagonist
>Black to appeal to SJWs

Not to say I would mind too much, I was just left severely wanting in the two Elsweyr areas of TESO. Out of, like, six areas of the Dominion. (and three of them were Valenwood)
>>
>>341125086
I've always facepalmed at how artificially detached Vvardenfell is just because the entirety of Morrowind was too technically taxing to render at the time.

or, you could look at bethesda's release history and realize that bethesda usually takes 3-4 years between games and since fallout 4 was only 6 months ago, we have a long wait ahead no matter what.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bethesda_Game_Studios#Games_developed

one of the reasons that they didnt a quick remaster of skyrim was to give TES fans something newish to work with while they wait. it's been 5 years since skyrim and will be a minimum extra 2 years until TES 6.

Apparently the lore excuse is that Vvardenfel used to just be sea but Red Mountain's eruptions formed a volcanic island over time. The Heart of Lorkhan which formed Red Mountain was originally cast into the sea so it makes some sense.

>Hey, LOTR is popular, lets make Oblivion like that
And I know he was there since Arena and all that but he was too "oldschool" with his views of the setting and never liked stranger stuff in TES.
>>
>>341122750

But a Valenwood game centered around a Wood Elf rebellion against the Thalmor would be based as hell. Part way through the game, the Wood Elves start a Wild Hunt to drive the Thalmor out, and the "dragon encounters" of the game will be horrifying monsters of all different types.
>>
>>341129598

>>341131071
It could have easily been same shit but with palms instead of trees. The trees were unique from Morrowind and had custom animations.
it's not about lush Jungle at all, any Jungle could theoretically work.

It's the same reason why Colovnian and Nibenese cultures are nonexistant in Oblivion, because Ken Rolston was like
>Hey, people being tattoed and wearing silly hats is SILLY! And we can't have blood thirsty imperials, that would be EVIL!
problems go beyond jungle with Cyrodiil
>>
Fuck this franchise. It's dumbed down, sold out, trivialized. they will continue to suck dry the fanbase until it's complete shit.
>>
>>341130736
>oblivion
>good
The game is fundamentally broken without mods with its scaling and leveling system. The dungeon and world design outside of shivering isles was also kaput. Some of the quests were pretty good, and the magic system wasn't as shit as Skyrim's, but that's about all it has going for it.

i feel like "sucking this franchise dry" would mean bethesda releasing a TES game every year, like what Ubisoft does to Far Cry or EA does to Battlefield or Activation does to Call of Duty.

I don't think releasing a new Elder Scrolls every 3-5 years constitutes "sucking dry". Hell, It'll probably be an 8 year gap between Skyrim and TES 6

>Soo, full reboot of the Elder Scrolls series starting with Arena?
that's something I'd really like to see, I really want a game where the only "you can't go that way" borders are at the very edges of the ocean on the whole continent, I wanna go fuckin EVERYWHERE

I guess the problem with that is, how to do the story

I have a few things I think would work out
>chronological mode
you start with the earlyist game canonically, which was.. daggerfall or something wasn't it? I can't remember, wasn't it something about the war where the dwemer disappeared themselves? anyway, start at that one, and when you complete that story you unlock the next chronological game in the series

this avoids events just not existing, like the nerevarine not having fucked red mountain before you go to oblivion and skyrim, etc

>timelord mode
everything is enabled at once, but the time differences are just ignored, maybe there's a handwavey explanation like there's rifts in time you can cross, but who the fuck cares, you can go everywhere and it's just like someone has sewn the games and dlc together at the edges

downsides are none of the regions have cross-the-borders quests because time fuckery, i guess

>same time mode
every region is locked in a canonical age that's the same over everything and everythnig works together

downside is they have to come up with new stories
>>
>>341132425
Aren't all the towers also on Tamriel? Akavir doesn't matter that much on the cosmic scale. Maybe that's why they've tried to establish themselves on Tamriel a few times
>>
>>341127429
>Capital is a giant multi-tiered tree that wanders around the province

If you believe this will be implemented in an open world game by any dev, let alone Bethesda, you're delusional.
>>
>>341127429

BUT WE LOVE PLAYER CHOICE!

sadly, the time between releases is no indication of quality. they might have a smaller team. or maybe they are just wasting resources. there were 4 years between morrowind and oblivion and they wasted their time on graphics and dumped a lot of gameplay. morrowind took 4 years as well for your information.

Actually, in my more elaborated idea for a TES:VI would be like:

>Each faction has corruptive and idealistic aspects
>For the Dominion, it's the Thalmor, for the Empire it's The Daedric cultism the Empire's picked up because cutting deals with Molag Bal, Merunes Dagon, and the like are the only way they've been able to take on The Dominion, etc.
>You can either root out the corruptions and bring them back to a lighter glory
>Or you can side with the corruptive aspects.*

All to let the player feel like, even if they're not leaders of a faction (in three out of four) they still do have influence over it's future.

*Siding with the Thalmor or Daedric cultists will end with your character getting sacrificed in a ritual to cause the end of the world because you're a fucking idiot to think you can be a complete asshole and damn creation without consequence.

>And given Bethesda's tendency to constantly push forward development schedules and release half-finished games, it's probably been in development since Fallout 4's was released.
They won't start full, as in actual development till November of next year, or whenever they release the final dlc for Fallout 4. They always have started full development after the dlc cycle is done with the current game since like oblivion.

I think morrowind is great, but I think there are some definite flaws that people defend for the wrong reasons

when I see people complaining about attacks missing all the time, people always defend it like "well you didn't put your stats right" but I don't think an attack should ever outright miss because of a dice roll, unless it's a very rare event, but even then, if you'rte swinging a sword directly AT them it shouldn't miss

here's what I would do: no misses as long as you actually hit them with the damn hit box, but the lower your stats are, the shttier damage you do, so you're not sitting there for hours missing the same enemy and wishing you were dead

Hey now, Valenwood's got some pretty ideas and fucking moving tree cities (granted Beth acknowledges the best reason to use this area), and if annexed with Elsweyr and Summerset Isles, gives us more than just one landscape-type to move around in. Either this or all of Akavir (fat chance) would be my most-requested hopes for TES VI.

>>341124281
Only bonus of using Hammerfell would be the architecture and possibility of cannons and gunpowder being added to the boring Medieval armory. Fuck, I'd almost take modern-inspired Dwarven repeating firearms if it'd make the combat more enjoyable, since actual melee-branching is less likely to happen.

Yeah, I prefer any mage or magic-based setups as you can tell. More staves and weird-ish mage weapons would be nice.

I'm pretty sure bethesda developers have mentioned that in-game map sizes are not necessarily indicative to how large a region is supposed to be in-universe/the lore.

Tamriel is supposed to be the size of the continental united states or australia, but clearly, that's not the case when we play it in-game.

The only game that's been accurate, as I understand, is Daggerfall where the in-game world is something like 400 square miles.

>>341134456
It really would be, but the only playable Khajiit would be like Suthay, Cathay, possibly Dagi, and their Rhat variations.

Alfiq, Seneche, and Pamar are basically actual felines.

>>341134674
Can't other Khajiit talk to and understand them?

would be cool to have like a full Seneche Coimpanion/mount (if you're playing a khajiit or got an enchantment to understand khajiit, he talks too)

I like that way of going about it, but I'm really torn at having the game actually end

I guess on the one hand people prefer a proper ending to the game, but on the other hand, I love letting the game keep going until I'm dawn-magic levels of powerful no matter what ending I choose

but I know that that's the main reason why the world NEVER gets any interesting changes done to it, they want to leave all of the options open so you can DO EVERYTHING

at the same time that I like that, I also think it's stupid, and I don't think I would mind a game where if you do X storyline, you fuck up your chances to do Y event, or you accidentally destroy an entire town or some shit (they can just make it so if you fuck something up, any related quests are immediately removed from your quest book like in new vegas, but they shouldn't TELL the player like they did in NV, cause that always made me go "ah fuck what did i do now")

That's just salt in the wounds though. Any other ending besides Daedric or Thalmor, the post-game is like with FO4 or Skyrim where you can keep going about your life. But if you pick those two, you effectively fucked yourself out of any post-game content.

I'm kind of a moralfag dick and feel likw players who want to be full murderhobo assholes in their playthrough, while being free to do so, deserve to be fucked over horribly for such choices.

the problem with this is spells. especially AoE spells. how would you miss that?
the funny thing is, people wouldn't complain if you would roll a dice for 10-15 dmg or 1-5 dmg. but when it is 0 dmg they go nuts. it's just a graphics issue, get over it.

I really want some gameplay aspects back, that make me think. or at least ponder.
like, how do I use my Azura's Star soulgem best?
how do I get rid of the negative effects of enchanted items?
how can I use this item that requires xx strength?

>>
My Ideal TES
>Hammerfell and Orsinium
>DLC that goes to either a portion/all of valenwood(unlikely) or summerset isle
>Pirate kangz team up with green mountain kangz to fight off the bitch elves
A plot like
>in the late fourth era tamriel was shattered politically after the civil war in skyrim. The provinces of Skyrim, Hammerfell, High Rock, Morrowind, and Black marsh all suceded from the empire and the Aldmeri Dominion has replaced the Emperor as the main form of power
>now you have found your way in high rock as a prisoner, like all TES games
>you utterly end up playing a role in whether hammerfell fights off the invaders or is taken by the elves
>no chosen one shit, no shouts, kind of like Oblivion in the sense that you're just there.
But of course its bethesda so
>defining main character trait is that he can learn all that redguard sword magic shit whether or not he's a redguard
This could at least begin to salvage what skyrim did to the lore. Another acceptable thing would be
>you cause the meta of the game to stop existing by doing what the dwemer did and "waking up" ending the dream that is Nirn and in turn the TES series
>>

though siding with the aldmeri dominion and destroying the towers would LITERALLY destroy the world, so I can see why THAT would be a hard ending to the game, maybe that can be the legitimate "this is a point of no return" quest that permanently fucks your save and you have to load an earlier one

I'd love to see more in-depth enchanting mechanics, I felt like skyrim's magic overall was kind of disappointingly simple, not BAD per se, but just simplified

I really liked being able to make your own spells because you could craft the shit as powerful as you wanted it

I love games where if you abuse the systems you can become a god, but the base level is simple enough where if you only want "fireball" "fire storm" "incinerate" etc, they';ve already been pre-made for you by npcs and you can buy them and be on your way, but they're still tied in with the magic crafting system and you can make more powerful ones yourself with enough practice

I'm actually not sure either. Would be sort of nice to play a digitigrade walking khajiit again though as long as we aren't screwed out of foot armor and such. Mostly just for variety really.

Continuing a bit of my rotundness windbaggery on my ideal TES game:

>Set in Valenwood and Elsweyr
>Empire's begun making some surprising gains against the Dominion (like, how the fuck did this happen? The current Emperor broke a deal with Daedra.)
>Valenwood and Elsweyr are both split on Empire, Dominion, their traditional leaders, and even some support various powerful warlords cropping up. (hint int)
>Once you break free from jail (because you always start in jail), you can immediately turn 360 and walk away from the civil war rehash plot
>Except if you DON'T get involved, the war will eventually be decided and it might not be how you want it to go. (Or, even if the faction you like wins, their NPCs won't treat you with much respect.) Because the world does not revolve completely around the player character.
>In fact, if you don't join someone will step up and fill YOUR PLACE as the hero of the factions
>And if you do join, the other factions will still have their champion who you will inevitably fight.

As far as alternate main quest goes:
>The fuck is wrong with Elsweyr and Valenwood? Why are dwemer ruins popping up everywhere? They never came here
>Why are dwemer machines sticking out of those buildings
>WHY ARE DWEMER MACHINES STICKING OUT OF THOSE PEOPLE?
>Basically someone's found a piece of dwemer tech that helped them build cities almost instantly, but they're not using it right and it's resulting in these 'ruins' spreading like some horrible, mechanical kudzu that will even affect people
>You should probably stop this because if you don't get involved in this plot either, cities are slowly going to be assimilated.

The second plot is kind of weak, sorry.

I especially want all of the variation possible

even though it's more work creating armors that look right on all of the bodies

you know what I think? if they made the armors even more modular, with like 10-15 pieces, I think it would be less work creating every armor piece, that sounds counter intuitive because it's more PIECES, but I think a lot of the pieces could stay the same shape on most of the bodies, like pauldrons and chestplates, and then only the foot pieces and leg pieces for digitigrade races would have to be changed, etc

and for races with no legs, the foot pieces can just be turned into tail armor or some shit, I don't know, but for sure they shoiuldn't limit it like in morrowind where some characters just cant wear X armor piece

Glad you like it.

As the dwemer thing goes, while I'll admit I've never heard of such a thing in lore, it felt like it would make sense for it to exist.

I mean Dwemer built this shit with tonal magic, but they also loved their machines, so what are the odds they wouldn't one day build a machine that could use tonal magic to build cities for them?

As a side note, a less popular idea in my head would be the player being able to take over a bunch of things like farms, mines, traders, banks, merchant sailors, and even pirate crews and bandit gangs fairly unrelated to the war questline.

And then you can basically resolve the war by informing your preferred side that you're going to put your business (and criminal empire)'s resources into their corner and 'win the war' by financially fucking over the enemy.

they should just replace the combat and weapon stats with something more basic but nuanced

all armors are stronger either against swinging or thrusting depending on type, quality and weight

>thrusting
>With a mace

or will all maces need a nice spike on the end? Doesn't sound too bad actually. Axes will probably need the same.
>>
>>341149184

or fuck, make it three attacks: thrust, swing, and thrown

all weapons can be thrown, they impale or cleave opponents, enchanted weapons actually absorb a soul and recharge immediately this way

shields absorb all damage but eventually break, they can be rebuilt or you can buy or loot a new one constantly depending on how effective it is, like a good shield can do considerable damage with bashing

>>341149529

of course, some weapons could be just really shit one way like swinging with a spear or thrusting with a mace, but really good in the other way.

something like maces or axes would have huge bonuses against armor but can't block or parry for shit and they're slow so they need a shield to be effective, swords would be the jack of all trades weapon, spears would be awesome against unarmored enemies, etc
>>

Those ideas are nice for further-practical effects.

I was thinking of things like

>new elements like earth, water, wind, etc
>higher-level erratic-shaped elemental blasggts
>inspiration from Bioshock's variety, like split-recon, speed-charging, insect-swarms, tornadoes, actual telekinesis manipulation/throwing, etc

So we can count on TES6 being PC + Gen9 of consoles? If it's something that sounds that current tech couldn't handle i doubt they'd end up trying it on the Notebookstation 4.

Then again, Todd wouldn't lie to us, right?

Well no shit its a real thing. I mean im sure they started working on it as soon as V left the gates, little by little. Thats how studios stay profitable, by having coders pump out the game while designers design and write and all that. Otherwise half of the time half the people are out of shit to do and you have to pay them a bunch.

At least this confirms we'll see TESVI at next E3 most likely after a similar tease that they did with FO4

Not sure how but if Bethesda finds a way to make magic feel better I'm going to shit myself. Not entirely sure why magic feels so bad I'm skyrim but it could be because all you do is hold the right trigger for 30 seconds, drink a potion, and do it again. And the insulting kill cams of your player just burning the dude to the ground looked like shit. Please Bethesda, somehow use your talented staff to make magic more fun and appealing.

Morrowind didn't make the different attacks an actual option though, there's literally 1 attack that does the best damage and has no drawbacks. Nobody used the different attacks in morrowind because even the devs acknowledged they were pointless.

Think of Mount and & Blade instead. Blocking is directional there too, you have a specific block for specific attacks, and the blocking skill determines how fast and effectively you do them.

i think more ellaborate blocks and parries makes games more fun, you don't swing and miss endlessly or hack away for hours, the enemy feels like he's skilled as fuck and dangerous when he's constantly blocking and outdoing you instead.

i would like that, two kinds of blocks and one parry, if you get it wrong, you take all the damage, if you do it right, you don't. Rock Paper Scissors where your stats grow at the same time that you get used to the system.

the attacks and blocks would work by holding mouse button combinations or another key you can customize, you could hold attacks instead of having retarded flashy power attacks that take control away from you for too long, footwork would be important to get at your enemy's rear and side, away from his attack and into his exposed flank, NPCs would try to stick together to gang up on enemies instead of chasing you like animals, etc.
>>
>>341152816
Foot binding back in the older days of China. Girls' feet were broken and then bound so that their feet would be smaller and fit into tiny shoes.

There was no practical function, it was a beauty thing.

Don't act like your opinion is fact. It's a vague shitposty opinion at best. The main quest is fine, it's cool to not be the chosen hero for once but instead help out the chosen hero along his way.
>one that introduces proper knightly orders to each chapel, with quest lines
Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul does this I think

There are no flaws that I see in it to admit. If you're so adamant in your shit opinion why don't you mention a few of these flaws that you think exist?

>daedra fucking everywhere not affecting the world
>implying the shit engine limitations with only 20 actors allowed to be in combat with the player at a time aren't present in every TES game

they literally do not, they roam around the country side and fuckall happens, there's no travellers or inhabitants to affect, the cities do not become under siege

>implying the shit engine limitations with only 20 actors allowed to be in combat with the player at a time aren't present in every TES game

then they should have made them battles then for fucks sake, they could have had most of the fighting indoors or at different stages

>implying oblivion quests aren't god tier with 0 to very little mmo-tier fetch questing

literally no one thinks Oblivion's main quest is good, the guilds are good, the faction ones are good, the main one isusually ignored immediately to do them for a fucking reason

I highly doubt they would do this, they've already set up the Thalmor as Tamrielic Nazis, and honestly they kind of are since they vie to remove mannish races from the Mundus.

It'd be interesting from a story standpoint but I don't think Bethesda is brave enough to pull something like that off
