the gameplay is very simple, but somewhat hard to master. Furthermore, the game feels fast and feels good. almost every combo not only feels satisfying, but it is also full of fanservice. You really feel like you are playing the character, and not just some shoto reskin of a nardo character.
So it's the simple, satisfying gameplay and the fanservice that is appreciated in the games.
but, really, if you want a good fighting game based on a shounen that is deeper than a puddle, DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is one of the best

Bandai Namco is lucky that the development studio evolved into what it did. That first game was absolutely dreadful.
Battles were shown from the side, with various power-ups that determined the battle. The CPU would constantly teleport directly to the power-ups and stack the hell out of them.
