In comparison, WoW's animations are far lazier, along with the sounds and music. It's not bad, necessarily, it just feels like they didn't try nearly as hard as Square did with FFXIV's animations, sounds, and music.

During trash there absolutely is downtime, unless you think keeping the tank 100% topped off at ALL TIMES is absolutely necessary, otherwise I just toss him a heal when he drops to around 70%, then go back to DPSing.
With bosses it can be more tricky, but even then I usually find some time to switch to Cleric Stance, toss in a few dots, then swap back to heal.

I was forced into WoW by XIV's fucking terrible customer service system cornering me into a situation where my account is forever inaccessible.
Playing WoW now, and I have to say I'm having quite a bit more fun. The levels just seem to grind through themselves while I have fun exploring the dungeons and world while questing. It really opened my eyes to how fucking small XIV is. Even the larger areas of Heavenward are tiny compared to a singled dungeon in WoW, and every map in XIV is instanced, with flying mounts available in only a small number of those.
I guess you could say the animations are worse in WoW but that honestly doesn't bother me considering the combat is actually decent and encourages experimentation as opposed to XIV's 1-2-3 shit and 2.5 sec GCD.

AST used to be complete and utter dogshit, and then they started buffing the shit out of it every patch.
AST is basically WHM except with more mitigaiton options and far more party utility/buffs, whereas WHM beats it out in AoE healing.

I don't know how that happened for you but I can second this.
A friend of mine was permanently banned due to an issue with payment. When telling customer service he could pay in whatever way they wanted, they refused and closed his accountt despite him paying for another 3 months of game time which he had to just watch go down the drain.
I don't intend on playing this shit until I hear their customer service gets an overhaul.

Leveling is one of the few areas where wow outright wins to me, you can just follow the quest lines area to area which will easily level you, in some cases even over level you for an area or you can do dungeons and battlegrounds to max. XIV leveling is alright for the first 2 classes when you have msq xp and quest left over, after the 3 or 4th though it becomes a complete grind.

You'll never get a 1.5 s GCD on any class unless you autistically go full skill speed but everybody knows it's less than viable. Usually on MNK and NIN you get around 2 s GCD, maybe a bit less with SCH buffs.

My clear came with 10 minutes left on the timer and I loved every glorious second of it. The hardest part isn't the mechanics themselves (these are rather easy actually) it's somehow lucking into having a good party, because it only takes 1-2 shitters to wipe the whole party.

I swear to God I hate that fucking place because of this. My group can do fucking perfect mechanics. Meanwhile fucking Alliance B has one person who dies to nearly every mechanic and at 15% or so they wipe, which causes Alliance C to wipe which causes Alliance A to wipe. While I, as a SCH, am staying within 80% of one of Alliance B's DPS.

You'll have to slog through several hours of fetch quests to get to the good parts, but it's more than worth it.
I'm not even interested in the MMO aspect, I play the game solely for the story, music and boss battles.
