it actually couldn't have been those games. this is a remaster, those two games would need a total remake from the ground up, which means a hundred millions of dollars and 3-5 years of development. bethesda is busy making TES 6 right now, they're not going to waste time outright remaking other games.
and the reason is mostly to expand their modding platform on console. for that reason, what better game is there than skyrim? skyrim has the most active mod community out of any game.

That's not how it works. Bethesda Game Studios works as one main team and finishes one game at a time. Fallout 4 was released on 6 months ago.

The remaster is most likely NOT being made by Todd's studio. Bethesda recently opened up a child studio in Montreal for the reason of handling side projects.

i went all pissy nerd mode when I heard the rumors were true and that it was getting a fucking pc version too.
but after they announced that the pc version is gratuito for people who own skyrim and all dlc already i don't mind this at all. there's gonna be an awkward transitionary period where all the modders get their mods working on the new game but once that's done we'll get mods that take advantage of the 64 bit executable, directx11, and whatever behind the scenes stuff they did in the new version of creation engine/gamebryo.maybe just maybe we'll get a mod that makes the civil war battles actual sieges and raids with decent performance, not just 10 respawning dudes versus whatever the 32 bit game made for Xbox 360's can handlehey a guy can dream

Curiously, Skyrim is actually what led me to 4chan in the first place. I liked some Skyrim page on Facebook which over the years started posting and sharing stuff from 4chan and through that rabbit hole I ended up here.
