They said on Stream it's going to have a full single player campaign. titanfall 1 literally had AI as an element of the multiplayer gameplay, so I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that it doesn't from. Titanfall 2 also confirmed that there will be some modes that don't have AI in it for those who want the full on PvP experience.

Technically you can play alone with the co-op vs ai mode, however you're exactly right that they should have implemented actual player bots for the other modes. Titanfall really strived for the "trim the fat, focus solely on making the basics excellent" approach but it paid off and created an innovative, excellent game. Now all they need to do is add some delicious fat.

I'll be honest, Titanfall 2 has me excited and I didn't even play the original beyond a brief stint with the beta.
A campaign and multiplayer will actually make it worth getting and the futuristic setting will be a nice counter to BF1.
I will preorder the standard edition when the preload becomes available.
