Plus, the worst thing - it's going after the open world fad where bigger is better (it's not). So I suspect we will have a few mediocre dungeons and A LOOOOOT of pointless padding Zelda is known for, plus shit like fast travel due to the size of the map.

The landscape for this type of game has changed A LOT during the last 6 seven years. I was quite saddened by the way many people disregarded Skyward Sword with meme arguments and overall /v/ arrogance.
The game had really good ideas and most of them worked surprisingly well; the only things that did annoy me a lot were the moments where the motion controls were barely functional (when you have to do a nose dive in the air, for instance - we all remember THAT MINI-GAME) and some questionable design choices (such as that stupid Squid boss). But in overall it felt like an actual new Zelda game with an engaging gameplay.
Looking back at the 2011 context, I can't help thinking that most of the undeserved hate it got was because of the Wii being such a lacking console and the beginning of the Dark Souls phenomenon. I think people contrasted Dark Souls's straightforward and solid fighting system to Skyward Swords's motion-control based one and considered the latter as simple semi-functional gimmick. Given the amount of Zelda remakes Nintendo has been making since that game, I think it's safe to say they wouldn't dare to make a game that feels like a consensual fan-pandering Ocarina wannabe. I just hope they don't get backlashed for trying new things. It seems that the game will include motion controls (using the gyro), but on a smaller scale and there is a chance it will be optional; so that will save us over 1 million useless /v/ threads complaining about it, and another million telling people to gitgud at it...
What poses more of a threat to the game is how it will handle expectations regarding more traditional aspects such as over-world design, with all the shitty arguments that will come from it such as "x-game was bigger than Zelda than Wii U".

I really don't even care about 3D Zelda that much and it's awful that Nintendo's offerings have become so anemic that you're basically obligated to enjoy all of their franchises unless you want to go 6 months without a new game.
I'ts really the only game that has my attention. I'm sure there will be many games I see I like, but this is the main attraction for me. I have a feeling it's going to be amazing. Everything I've seen of it so far points to the fact theyre going to do many many things right.

Do you think we'll get a proper musical instrument? The Wind Waker was alright, but wasn't fun to play. The wolf howling in TP didn't have much use and it wasn't like how you used music in the older games. Same with SS, the harp wasn't used for much and it wasn't fun to play.

I swear, people who don't just automatically hate Skyward Sword and instead can appreciate it for the things it did actually get right (despite it having a shit load of flaws) are my favorite posters in Zelda threads.
Of course, that could just be bias on my part since I'm also one of those people. Skyward Sword is by no means my favorite, but it's not the god awful pile of shit that /v/ makes it out to be.
I mean, Skyward Sword is quite a lengthy game, so if it was as bad as people say it is, I wouldn't have bothered playing it twice. Hell, even I'm surprised I played it twice since I'm not usually into replaying games.
I'm also very excited for this shit though. I've tried to not get overly excited in case I get disappointed, but I fucking love Zelda. The reason why I never bought a Wii U is because Nintendo didn't give me my system seller. Zelda.

I was looking forward to it OVER THREE YEARS AGO when I bought my Wii U. Plus I doubt it will be any good now with Nintendo's recent hardcore casualization of each of their series. Just so you know, OoT and Majora's Mask are in my top 10 favourite games of all time, but I think the Souls series has stolen the title of King of ARPGs that Zelda once held.

I am not /v/ cynical, but Nintendo basically killed any hype I had for any Nintendo title right now. Bought a WiiU hoping for some quality Ninty games, because that is the only reason to get one of their consoles. And instead of giving me a real Mario I get 3D World which was a bad joke. Difficulty does not start building up until you actually "beat" the game and get to the bonus worlds. It was not creative in the slightest. Just compare the Ghost Houses of 3D World with those of Super Mario World. In 3D World you just run through. A straight line from a to b. No secret exits or anything like that.
So this brought me to the point that I cannot be hyped for Nintendo right now because they clearly lost what they had in the past.

Considering the last Zelda, Link between worlds was actually a great game, i'm semewhat excited.
But in a world with Witchers, skyrims and Souls games Zelda need to bring something groundbreaking to the table. Not a new vehicle like the boat or train, not a "revolutionary" control scheme like the gyro or motion sword combat.
There's not really anything to go on as of yet. The art style is a good choice for a console that can't keep up with the competition. I do fear the open world can be a detriment to the experience, like MGS5, a giant empty world.

Mechanically, Skyward Sword is the best in the series.
Lanryu desert is the absolute pinnacle of the series from a technical perspective, and the game has the best bosses all up.

I've stopped caring. I spent an entire console generation getting hype for a Zelda that's never happened.
Even this week, they're showing off footage exclusively for a version that nobody will buy seeing as it's launching the same day as a superior version on a newer console.
Not to mention the last time a Zelda was in development this long, we ended up with Skyward Sword, the most average of Zelda games. I'm cautious that the same will happen again.
That, and they've just crammed so many remakes in the last couple years that ironically i'm burned out of the series during a drought: Ocarina 3D, Majora 3D, Twilight Princess HD, Four Swords Anniversary, Wind Waker HD, Hyrule Warriors, Link to the Past 2, Triforce Heroes.
I'm sure it'll be good, but i'll get hype when they show the real version people are actually going to buy. Making the dead console version the showcase of E3 is a huge mistake.

Fist off, it's Mario, and it didn't have anything big or controversial to talk about. A lot of people did not like the initial reveal and thought it looked boring. The interest (for discussion) simply wasn't as high.
But even more importantly, when Mario 3D World was announced, there were other games on the way as well. So when people talked about Nintendo, or Wii U, or upcoming games, you'd have a lot of other stuff there to take away from it.
Zelda has NONE of that. Everyone will have their eyes on this game, and everyone will have an opinion on it. It will be impossible to avoid unless you avoid video game discussion in it's entirety.

That's not really telling about anything. The so called Paper Mario fans have shitposted about everything that came out after TTYD. When SPM came out, they shitposted it to death. Same with SS. Both sold well despite being "hated" by Paper Mario fans.

I am definitely watching the live stream, I am not as hyped as I was when this was announced 2 years ago. What with all the delays and whatnot, but if the Zelda team has kept true to the vision of using the NES Zeldas as their inspiration point I'm sure this will be a good game. That's all I want, is a good game. It doesn't have to set crazy new standards for the industry, I just want to have fun.
What was left of my hype died about a year ago. We're talking about a game that is just SO GREAT that we don't even need to know it's fucking title. A game SO GREAT, it needed to be delayed for several years. And a game so great, we didn't need to see more than 15 seconds of it and a little concept art here and there.

Sticker Star was a bad RPG. It's an RPG with a bare bones plot (PM64 had Bowser just abduct Peach, but that didn't stop it from being interesting), where the big bad doesn't say anything, and with a fighting system that encourages you to not fight random enemies (because fighting wastes stickers and gives you coins, you use coins to buy stickers to use in fights for coins... Etc.)
I loved PM64, TTYD, and SPM. They were all great games. SS was not. Color Splash probably won't be, either. If I do get it, it'll be after I see a lot more good info on it.

This is something I've been thinking about a lot lately. We've seen a lot of faggots denounce lots of Nintendo Directs for not being 'hype' enough, despite all of the great games shown. The last time anyone got excited over a new Nintendo reveal was the Bayonetta for Smash... and that was just a fucking DLC. They ignored and downplayed a ton of great games, like Paper Jam, Planet Robobot, Star Fox Zero, Devil's Third, Fatal Frame, and now TMS for not being 'hype' enough. It really came off as if people just watched the Directs with no intention of actually buying or playing any of the games.
I hope Link is a solo adventurer in this game, waifu guide is getting kinda stale in the 3D games.

The delay worry me a lot. I suspect that the delays for TP ans SS (which took five years to make) were becuse they were trying to implement the wii controls, or that Aonumas was just mangaing the project poorly and it took lfar longer to finish the game than expected.
I heard that with TP the Development was a total shambles (I thhinkt was Aonuma's first time directing a game solo) and Miyamoto had to come in a fix everything into less of a complete mess, but that could be a bullshit rumour.

The primary antagonist was good, Impa and Zelda, plus Groose all got good characterization (side characters, too), I felt that the sidequests, while lesser than Majora's Mask, were better than WW or TP's, and the dungeons, while not particularly difficult, were at least nice and compact (unlike TP) and had a decent variety of different environmental puzzles (unlike WW), putting them at MM level at least (although all timeshift stone shenanigans were 10/10).
The combat was honestly the best I've seen in the series up until that point, well, there's points for OoT's combat to be better but WW's combat was everything has the same standard three-hit combo, and TP's combat was a tonne of moves that had no use unless you were fighting one of three darknuts at the end of the game.
