The only good part of any of the games is ME2 vanguard shotty. Everything else is trash.

I haven't played 3 yet and I'm thinking after finishing NG+ and DLC in Witcher 3 maybe I'll go back and do the entire trilogy. I know some people only liked the first one, but I actually really enjoyed 2 as well. I avoided 3 after the huge shitstorm and I know the ending sucks, but is any of it any good? I hear the gameplay is supposed to be fun at least, but what of the stories/characters/writing?

There aren't any sequels for Mass Effect.
3is without a doubt objectively the best one.
Yes, the ending will forever remain in the record book under "worst video game ending of all time" but up to that point it was such an emotional roller coaster it makes up for it. Plus it has the best soundtrack in games and the marketing was kickass. Gameplay and graphics were top notch. Best of all 3 save the ending.

Honestly 3 is an okay game, weaker than 1 & 2, but the ending really ruined the game at release, I don't know how's the new one after patching/dlc I haven't touched the game since

3 is much weaker than 2. It was really disappointing in terms of gameplay, but I was ok witht that because I was going to get a custom made ending based on all the shit I had done so far and then I would gladly replay the trilogy!

Depends. Did you really get invested in the characters/continuity set up in 2? Because 3 basically shits on that and it's why most of /v/ hates it. Most of them completely miss the fact that(a few stupid things like "muh star child" and space ninjas notwithstanding) 3 is actually tonally a lot closer to 1.
