Honestly the armored core franchise ruined other mech games for me. The customization is off the charts. Every other game you just pick a frame and change some weapons which is lame.

It's not quite a mech per se, but if you want to have a fun time in a mechanical vehicle, then the Ace Combat series would probably fit the bill for you.
It's planes, so again, it's not quite mech suits if that's what your heart is set on, but the combat is really quite phenomenal if what you're looking for is that tanky, mechanical thing.
Othwerwise, Titanfall is probably your best bet for modern gen games with good mech combat.
