I feel you OP, but I don't think we'll be seeing one like that for a long while. It's safer to build an essentially co-op single player game with some raids at the end.
Something like FFXI around NA launch would be amazing, but we'll never see it again.

Black Desert only exists for PVP wanking, and the international server is garbage for this because Nexon is literally satan and doesn't bother with content patches that aren't cash shop related.
If you're looking for a "Social experience" then you're shit outta luck friend. Maybe FF14? Its the only one I haven't tried yet because of the paywall. Stay far away from the FF14 general though.

I just want instant teleports to all the relevant content with silent retards who have a very specific role to do with their class so they can't possibly fuck it up unless they are literally 8 years old.
Tank go stand in front of monster, DPS just mash your hotbar and don't get hit, healer just slam your testicles on the mouse until everybody's red bars are bigger.
After 15 minutes of this we pick up more arbitrary fucking numbers to do it again slightly faster!

Not going to happen.There's been almost no improvement on the tech since the early '90s and all the common issues that were brought up there still remain. The only thing that has changed is the mass production of the various components which are also used in smart phones/tablets.

Funny thing is I met a life long friend playing WoW and I talk to her around the holidays every now and then despite us playing probably 10+ years ago
It's amazingly sad the focus went from being social constructs/experiences to just jerking off asian/europoor power fantasies of being "the best player on muh server with lvl x gear of ultimate power".
Basically gave up on MMOs circa 2011 after trying EVE for a while then moving onto Dark Souls.
Guess I'll be sticking with DS3 coop and duels for a while

Try Phantasy Star Online 2, there wont be a whole lot of general socializing because japanese server but theres a considerable amount of english players on Ship 2 and theres no PVP so dickwaving is at a minimum.
