I'm already sold. The storyline throughout 3 games was fun to play, I'll agree the ending sucked and was lackluster but I had no intentions of replaying through the entirety of the series multiple times and without looking up the other endings I never would have known how bad it was.
The multiplayer in 3 was fun as hell to me and the randomized booster pack system was refreshing and made my friends and I build completely different characters.

Half the people you meet in ME1 try to stop you even though your mission is chasing a rogue agent trying to summon A FUCKING DEATH GOD to destroy everything along his friends while you do your best to save everyone.
ME2 constantly gives you characters telling you that Cerberus and you are bad and agreeing with that is always the Paragon option.
ME3 keeps reminding you about the war theme, "you can't save everyone" and those fucking dream scenes. It was grit, death and tragedy nonstop with the only breather being the Citadel DLC.

5. This is a game based in space. It can't be linear. You should be able to tackle any part of the game at any point in time, besides the ending of course. Have scaling levels/enemies to achieve this.

For me it was amazing. I do believe ME1 is better than ME2, and ME2 better than ME3. I know ME2 and ME3 got more shooterish and tried to appeal to the masses, and I didn't like that change. "Choices that affect the story" is a nebulous thing and nobody really seems to know what they actually mean by this.
Imo a relatively simple solution would be
>paragon/renegade exists, but is a hidden value and doesn't affect your dialogue options
>various npcs/squadmates have opinions/positions on specific issues
>reaction is based on the combination of "in or out of alignment" as well as "agreeing or disagreeing"
>If you're normally "paragon" but suddenly choose a renegade option(or vice versa), your squadmates will be surprised
>If you say something that disagrees with someone's core beliefs, they may challenge you
>If you have a pervasive pattern of disagreeing with someone you might not be able to pass a crucial speech check, they might leave, or some other penalty
>Bonus points: It's possible to be duplicitous but if you don't plan it all out eventually people will catch on to your shit
