His most popular story, sure. He has better works like the Dunwich Horror, Shadow Over Innsmouth, and At the Mountains of Madness. If your Lovecraft reading stops at Cthulhu, you're missing out. Cthulhu actually recognises humanity in some capacity. The real horror of Lovecraft is that there are beings within and without the universe impossibly powerful and they're not even evil, we just understand so little of their psychology that their actions seem completely arbitrary.

Like, holy fuckballs, the atmosphere leading up to your ambush in the hotel might just be the best atmosphere I've ever felt from a game
It should be a myst-like. Explore the environment to solve puzzles but try not to drive yourself crazy in the process.

I'm not actually sure how that works. There's a tabletop RPG that has the same name, but is a separate property from the story, which is in the public domain. Does this mean anyone can make a game called The Call of Cthulhu based on the book, or would that conflict with the Tabletop RPG's trademark?
