monster collectathon games are kinda rare in general. You have to spend tons of resources to come up with 100 or so somewhat original creatures, that all look like they fit in the same world, and try to somewhat balance them. Much easier to make a "regular" game.
In what genres is PC lacking titles?
Platformers is the first that comes to mind
