I bought Samurai Warriors 4 Empires. It is my first Empires game and while the additional choices and mechanics are cool, they really don't add all that much more to the game. The create a character is relatively shallow too and there are barely any unique event or event animations. It just made me wish I had gotten vanilla Samurai Warriors 4. That lady with the afro is delicious as fuck. I love her moveset

I thought it had really sold core mechanics and a really interesting weapon system but there's really very little content in it, even with the DLCs which only add 10 or so scenarios. All there is to do is story mode, a few Free Mode scenarios, and replaying those scenarios for S Ranks and S rank Skill Cards. I don't mind a 20 hour or so 100%, but I feel like that is a lot less than you'd expect from most musous.

I was hoping they would one day do a Blue Sky musou, but considering how poorly the first two games did and how little people care about Blue Sky I can't see that happening.
I will say FUCK THE DLC though. There were basically no useful challenge maps without the DLC which made grinding a pain unless you paid.

I disagree completely. If you're actually familiar with the hack n slash genre, you would know that musou games are generally far superior to other games in the genre. Stuff like Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta, and Devil May Cry are outliers and often not even considered the same genre.
Musou games usually have way more playable characters than other games and the movelists are often way larger too. The production values are usually pretty decent, rocking soundtracks, and the character models and character designs are good.
Seriously try playing other games in the genre. This genre just might not be for you if you think musou games are incompetent.

Wei Yan in the novel disagrees with Zhuge Liang a lot because Wei Yan's plans require risk and getting the drop on Wei's defenses. In hindsight, his plans probably would have worked, but Zhuge Liang eventually had Wei Yan killed for not being his bitch boy like Jiang Wei.
