I will now quit the internet in shame.

i wish i wasnt so fucking incompetent when it comes to shit like this , sacred+underworld is a straight 10/10 and makes me proud to be german

I always liked how Divine Divinity looked, but I have no idea how to call that perspective because it sure as ain't isometric.

sacred is pretty shit though, especially the level design and overall pathing. It's kinda cute for a while but since the novelty is off it becomes really awful and tedious.

It's literally isometric.
>>
>>340629128
What Sacred has going for itself, sequel too, is that it's a Diablo game with open world where all other clones are perfectly fine with act structure. Also, horses.
>>
>>340629235
The sequel has mechanical anubis with flamethrower arm, tho
>>
>>340629187
I'm pretty sure it's oblique if I have my angles right, though.
>>
>>340629128
>level design
>pathing

while i agree that the overall world building is sort of clunky sacred has so many overwhelmingly good points it can simply not be seen as a bad game

>great voice acting
>different and varied characters
>vast ways to build your character, speccing into every weapon type available
>combos
>gigantic content wise
>tons of cool items
>giant dragons to fight and make armor out of
>very touching and deep story if you actually take an interest
>sakkara demons

i guess nostalgia plays a big part for me too but i cant help it

Sacred was my jam. Still love to go back to it once in a while... Just wish there was a mod to increase the resolution
>>
>>340627585
There's really no reason to buy it on steam though, the multiplayer is fucked since they do not give out cd-keys.
>>
>>340627585
Never was into the genre. Never really had a gaming quality pc back then either.

Definitely tired of that cartoon trend. Seems like so many games copy that shit now. At least if these games were made for kids like back then it would be acceptable.

I think you're supposed to do both, usually in the same year. I remember I slaved doing it by hand on paper while also working in CATIA.

By not having played them all already. Just started Geneforge yesterday, still have Underrail, Arcanum, Shadowrun and Age of Decadence ahead of me, and probably a lot more I don't even know I wanna play yet.

>>
>>340634305
Both, I guess. With Geneforge you have to take both the good and the bad, and there's plenty of both.

I hope you have a high tolerance for trash mobs.
And for your sake I really, really hope you are not a completionist.

Also, not sure if I have to warn you, but don't use a walkthrough.

How is Sacred: Gold?
It keeps popping up as a recommended game on Steam and it's dirt cheap as well.
>>
>>340634596
>I hope you have a high tolerance for trash mobs.
Normally not, but so far I actually really enjoyed the combat - that is not doing any combat myself and letting my creatures do all the work for me. There's something really satisfying in that for me. I don't even mind going all the way back to the nearest essence pool if all my creatures are dead even if it's on a different map.

>And for your sake I really, really hope you are not a completionist.
Nah, I'm in it for the adventure. Also haven't even considered looking at a walkthrough, so far everything's been flowing rather nicely.

Only issue I have so far is the performance, sometimes it's awfully choppy that I have to click 20 times for it to register and opening any menu always takes up to 30 seconds.
>>
>>340633670
where's that image from?
>>
>>340635105
Brigador. It's pretty cool, just really hard.
>>
>>340634742
Sacred games are great but you'll never ever finish one of them because they have way too much content
>>
>>340634742
Fun, but only if you endure the first few hours, which are very repetitive
>>
>>340635304
>>340635318
Eh, I can deal with repetition.
I'll probably check it out then. I really need something to occupy me until the 30th.
>>
>>340635304
I've finished S1 more than once
Currently replaying it with the vampiress
>>
>>340635423
You'll be busy with it until the end of the year
>>
>>340634742
After the huge disappointing that is Pillars of Eternity, I'm going to try Sacred
>>
>>340627585
Sacred was the shit here in Spain,
it got accepted as a decent diablo clone.
My sister, my brother in law and i spent months playing this shit, farming runes and doing absurd combos, i had a dwarf in the expansion with 800% extra probability of finding legendaries because of my playtime and never dying.
>>
>>340635551
It's an open world Diablo tho, not a classic RPG
>>
>>340635025
Playing a Shaper, eh? Are you planning to branch out into magic, or stick with summoning only? Both are perfectly viable, I'm just curious.

Nah, well, if you are not a completionist then you'll be fine. One of the maps in this game is hands down the most infuriating, annoying shit I've ever seen in a video game, but it's perfectly optional.

As for the trash mobs, you've only been playing for a short while. It'll get worse. Much worse. Of course the game gives you insane freedom to go wherever you want and skip whatever you don't want, but you'll want to do some of the annoying parts anyway.

>even if it's on a different map
You know that entering a friendly town instantly restores your health and essence, right?
>>
>>340635875
>Are you planning to branch out into magic, or stick with summoning only?
I think I'll stick with creatures with maybe some support magic for them if I think I can spare the points.

>You know that entering a friendly town instantly restores your health and essence, right?
Nope, I didn't know that. That's gonna save me a lot of time. Thanks!
>>
>>340627585
Sacred was a supremely disappointing snorefest.
Sacred 2 was perhaps worse.
>>
>>340636157
You are welcome. Wish I could help with your performance problems, but I've never experienced anything like that with any Geneforge. In my case the worst that happened with GF1 was that once I quit the game it turned my computer into a blurry mess, until I realized it quietly set the refresh rate of my monitor so low it's not even funny.

I can give you two more simple advice for skill progression, but feel free to ignore them if you want to do this blind.
Leadership is a very useful skill. Invest in it early if you wish to enjoy its benefits.
Luck is one of the best stats in the game, and having lots of it can help you immensely. Don't waste more than one skill point on it.
>>
>>340637215
