What went right?
Nick Valentine and the Assaultrons.
That's literally it.

The combat is better than 3 or nv. Some enemies are an actual threat now, like the sentry bots, they're fucking crazy.
Some characters were nice, like Nick.
The world seems solid, not much empty in between areas, but there's a lot of raider camp -> mutant camp -> raider camp etc
That's just about it. I enjoy it, but then again I was expecting what we got and not something that would surpass/improve on the other fallouts
Gunplay.
It might just be Bethesda's first game with actual good fighting gamplay.
Weapon crafting was also neat.

Nick Valentine, Curie, Silver Shroud, some enemies, VATS and combat, Diamond City radio, mindless exploration. That is it, am I missing something?

You can't beat free right?

Less shit is still shit
Power Armor was neat, exploring is okay. I liked that they actually somewhat tried to make some enemies behave and animate very differently for once.
Combat system. I haven't encountered one game breaking bug in over 600 hours since release. Some NPCs like Nick. The world is solid enough although a lot of raider camps. And for the first time a Bethesda game that doesn't crash as soon as you look at it the wrong way.
The enemy AI is actually pretty decent, very nice moments every now and then.
The new power armor system is neat.
On the other hand the dialogue wheel might be their dumbest decision yet also settlement building without mods is literally not worth the time. Random performance hits in areas where literally nothing has to be rendered eg Vault 114 is also a very nice feature. And fuck those Asian shitheads you meet in Concord.

The One time I want an Xbox...
The combat is better.
Thats pretty much it.
Better gunplay. That's all it has over F3 and NV.
Less bugs, maybe? It's certainly crashes less under the strain of mods.
Settlement building, gunplay, power armor..kinda.

I liked the awkward DJ guy. That and the way the ghouls juked and moved around more naturally.
