>hurr durr 3d characters should not do smears

What's the deal with Overwatch fans' hatred of smears?

3d fightan games all the way from tekken in 90s, for 2 decades, have been doing smears.

Animated characters 2d or 3d doesn't move like normal people, they move from pose to pose, and if you don't have smears they don't look graceful at all.

Looks like 2016 is the year normies discovered smears.

SMEARS REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

smears are great, they add fluidity to animations and are pure sex on 140hz monitors
plus they can bring funny screenshots
>>
So wannabe pixarshit Overwatch hates smears which 3D animated movies use all the time?
>>
Maybe posting KoF14 gameplay doesn't get your point across, seeing how it's arguably one of the ugliest fighting games to come out in forever
>>
tekken didn't smear shit

Overexaggerated animations are not the same thing as smear frames
>>
>>340510349

smears, squash and stretch, and bodybreaking are all forms of exaggeration.

my point still stands.

You don't know what a smear is, right

Tekken introduced Motion Blur in Tekken 6, you can turn in off in options.
But it is what it is, motion blur, not traditional 2D "smear"

Well they're different techniques and all have different effects on the animation. Bodybreaking can make your animation look cartoonish, smears can actually make them look more realistic, if for example you havet to convey more movement than you can fit in the frames you've got available.

Not that people are that keen on the differentiation, most guys are content just saying "the animation looks like shit" and call it a day if it's done badly. At any rate I don't recall anyone saying specifically "smear frames are bad" so I don't really see your point.

Overwatch's animations look like shit btw
