FF1, 2and 3 were TB, pure turn based but they all had differences in their individual systems, FF1 has you choose four jobs out of 6 and later you advance those four to master versions. FF2 had you with preset characters and you advanced a character by doing different commands over and over to improve them. Then FF4 introduced ATB introducing time based menus and systems to FF, 4 was ATB with preset characters. 5 was ATB with an advanced job system, 6 was ATB with special commands per character like Sabins blitz and magicite. 7 was ATB with 3 members, limit breaks and materia. 8 was ATB with the draw system and GFs. 9 was ATB with the Trance system

11 they ditched CTB and was RTB the first real time FF and an MMO, so was 14 but a different version of the system, both have job systems
12 was ADB which mixed ATB menu with real time movement, had to Gambit system for AI party control and a job system
13 was CSB and was stacked commands in an ATB system, move pool split into 6 with the paradigm system, no world map or towns
15 is AXB which is first fully real time action RPG system, phantom sword system, ring and environmental magic and weapon switching system, taking cues from ADB and having a system similar to Gambits, a menu for party commands, an ATB charge for party members and limit break like system, bringing back the world map, kingdoms, towns, vehicles, airships, crystal based story with royalty, setting being a mix of 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 and more.

No fucking game existed in 2006, in 2007, in 2008, in 2009.
Only in 2010 there was a handful of devs who in their spare time made a prealpha protoyoe on PS3 for Versus for a few months, and it only lasted a few months because FF14 tanked in late 2010 and SE pulled devs from around the company to fix that. The trailer we saw in 2011 for Versus was just all the shit they had done in 2010.
The shit we saw from 2006-2009 were literally just a CGI concept made by three fucking people where they just repeated the same footage with a few seconds of new footage mixed in.
2006 trailer was Noctis fighting soldiers outside the citadel, that was it
2007 trailer was the footage again, mixed in with a few seconds of footage of a car driving and prompto getting out, closeup on regis in a council room, the hooded guy standing by Noctis's throne.
2008 showed all that footage again this time mixed in with Gladio and Ignis, and Stella standing in the street pulling a sword out.
2009 showed that same footage again and a short clip of Noctis and Stella meeting which previs.

Only in 2010 did they show actual gameplay of Noctis running around a wasteland and by a gas station, then in Jan 2011 we saw the rest of the stuff they did in 2010. the game was put on hold then, it was on hold all the way until July 2012 because of FF14.
In July 2012 is when the game was rebooted and retooled into FFXV, got an actual budget, a 200 member dev team and started full development then and only then.
