it's widely acknowledged in the comp community to be a strong sidegrade, it just doesn't get used because you have to train yourself entirely differently than the Scattergun to use it. The increased heals, the DPM boost, and the longer range is amazing, and its only downside (more knockback taken) is also an upside if you're good at surfing.
