Look at this image for example, the boss makes an attack where he splits in 3 and you have to kill the right one, if you kill any of the other 2 he will attack you and almost kill one party member.
You clearly only have one choice here to make, but you have three options. Atlus however translated it as "You got three choices!" indicating that you could try three times, or at least make three decisions.
This bottom of the barrel translation quality is really what they're best at.
Also expect random accents for characters whenever they feel like it. At least there's no English dub.

The player character is plain enough to be considered a self-insert, but has his own personality. Take that as you like.
