>2 hours worth of cutscenes
>in a game of the franchise where it's expected to be possible to beat a game under 3-4 hours
>also, the game is the posterchild for GOING FAST and speedrunning/challenge-running
for what purpose
all other issues with this game aside, does anyone actually think that cutscenes that interrupt the flow of the game serve any purpose other than wasting your time
can you please never post that game again?
thank you n advance

Why are people still discussing (aka complaining about) this game? It's been 6 years. What's done is done. Move on.
>>340457380
Because in 4 years everyone will hail it as an underrated masterpiece ala MGS2 and Wind Waker.
>>340457380
Because I literally started and finished playing it yesterday and felt the need to ask the begged question.

Seriously, you are bitching about the length of the cutscenes?
In a game with that asinine over-shoulder view as you virtually crawl through empty areas?
In a game where you are first into a first-person view, and locked out of everything else until you pixel-hunt the correct area?
With all the plot problems, story problems, and character problems?
The length of the cutscenes is really your only issue?

You don't understand the severity of the issue here. If Other M was just a bad game, it wouldn't be as tragic. But Other M is a betrayal of the entire concept of Metroid, which is supposed to be an isolated GAME that's light on story. As in, if there's more than one cutscene in the game, you've already failed as a metroid developer.
Then you add in a mode where you can watch the cutscenes back to back while the game plays itself? And you have the balls to label it as "cinematic ambition"? And mind you, ontop of all of this, it's a ""game"" pushed out and approved of by Nintendo, the company who's supposed to be against cinematic experiences.
That's why Other M is such a tragedy.

aside the complaints, /v/ seem to can't let go of bombed titles like Star Fox Zero or Lord of Shadows.
Other M didn't even sold a million (may not even beat Zero Mission's sales either) and Nintendo's been quiet about it since.Feddie Force will be next

>>2 hours worth of unskippable cutscenes
fixed for accuracy

Wind Waker was good outisde of the Triforce shard hunt

No, that's not why Other M is a tragedy.
The shitty cutscenes aren't why it's a tragedy.
The shit characters and motivations aren't why it's a tragedy.
The piss-easy gameplay isn't why it's a tragedy.
The crappy pixel hunts isn't why it's a tragedy.
Even the pushing of weak useless Zero Suit Samus as the "standard" Samus isn't the tragedy, although it is pretty terrible.
What is the tragedy is that, they tried. There were honestly people on the team who tried to make it a good game. You can tell by looking at the concept notes and artwork. You can tell by looking at the background details pointing towards hidden items, which are completely meaningless thanks to the mini-map. You can tell by how well Samus controls in battle, at least until you realize you can just tap a button in any direction repeatedly for basically invincibility in any fight.
You can tell that there were people working on it who cared. You can tell that there was a good design being put into the game. And you can tell that, if it had the chance, the game COULD have been... if not decent, then at least an enjoyable distraction.
Instead, we ended up with something which was not only monotonous, dull, and stupid. We ended up with a dull, tedious, stupid game which gets touted and marked as the successor to the series, where every good design is killed by bad and conflicting decisions at every step of the way.
That is the real reason why Other M is a tragedy.

the artwork looked like total ass

Sonic 06 is nearly a decade old yet people still discuss that game.
>>340462405
because it's that bad
>>340462405
and PS3 owners trying to bargain why '06 was a good purchase back then due to game-breaking glitches
>>340462242
>concept sketches don't look at good as a polished finished product
I was talking about the ideas, but okay.
While I suppose you are technically correct, I'm not sure you really have a good point...
