No seriously, tell me why I should praise a game so heavily reliant on multiplayer. Every time I want to play the game will be a diceroll, hoping I get a good team that isn't a bunch of 10 year olds spamming the same 3 classes. And for 40-60 bucks, I shouldn't have to arrange games with 12 people in a complicated mess, hoping that they're all not only online at the exact same time, but also willing to play OW.
Compare that to a singleplayer game. No reliance on other people, no need to set up online servers or log into buggy network clients like battlenet, and I can always play it even if my online is acting up.
It's a really fun game and will probably win awards but with the games that will come out later this year it won't be the real GOTY (for me at least)

This is the first game where pretty much everyone I know play together. It's incredible, and for that alone, GOTY. Never saw a game reunite so many people before. Even D3 (on launch, before we knew it sucked) didnt bring us all together.

It is still missing some very key features and Blizzard is an astonishingly poor steward of games.
They invested tons more money into Starcraft 2 and look how poorly they cared for that game.
If anything I expect them to try even less with Overwatch because the entire development has been extremely conservative. It's really a shame because Overwatch has the potential to be a great game. A lot like TF2 when it first came out but Valve didn't treat that one right either because they really aren't a video games company anymore.

There is no way Overwatch is game of the year. It lacks any sort of depth in the gameplay.
Every match is literally spam your abilities while jumping around trying to hit people.
It is a spastic shooter with zero strategy. There is also no rank system and even if they introduce one It would be terrible due to the lack of diversity.

Videogames are already dead since 2005 anon. And I still play broodwar, D2 and even wc3 to this day from time to time.

- if the game is 100% gunplay (like Counterstrike/battlefield) then I find it uninteresting because I'm not a fps fan. I feel that a lot of players playing Overwatch are not fps fans-per-se.

I did though, and Dragon Age won GOTY because it has an extremely enjoyable first 60-90 minutes - what most reviewers see of the game. It gets old quick though and the flaws and lack of depth in the combat system became very much apparent to anyone actually playing through the game.

Alright, that makes sense. I misinterpreted because 'war' and 'scifi' really don't say anything about the gameplay. A scifi game could just as easily be pure gunplay as a war game could have abilities and rpg elements but I see how war games tend to stick with pure gunplay and scifi/fantasy games tend to shift the focus away from guns.
