I've beaten Triple Deluxe twice and RtDL 6 times. Deluxe is so boring that I only ever boot it up for Kirby Smash.
Everything in Return to Dream Land was better, except for the powerups. The bossfights were more fun (mostly because TD bossfights were utter garbage. Fuck that snake and that frog), the levels didn't have as much downtime, levels were more well designed, the game was far more difficult to 100%, and the final world was almost perfect.
Return to Dream Land is the pinnacle of Kirby, followed by KSSU and Dream Land 3.

Don't be fucking ridiculous. The super ability parts are a small portion of the game, and the level design wasn't catering to the multiplayer. Levels were often times complex mazes that you needed to keep a specific power up through to get the secrets. Sometimes you'd need to carry a specific power up (rock) through some of the hardest levels in Kirby history just to get a secret.
It was brutally hard compared to everything besides Adventure if you were going for 100%. No other Kirby game has made me as excited to replay it. I've beaten it twice without any friends.

And the super ability segments were at least relatively fast. Some of them were even funny/difficult, like the snowball in the volcano. It's no different than Kirby's succ ability in Triple Deluxe. Just an annoying cutscene segment that appeared every other level.

Every Kirby game has repeat minibosses. Sphere Doomers are at least challenging compared to the same enemies used in every other Kirby game (the Walrus, Bonkers). They're also far more common than most, but whatever.

Superstar is an unsatisfying sampler platter with no main course. It's an entire game built around the Kirby philosophy of always providing side modes, where they forgot to provide a main mode. Also the large movesets homogenize the powers and make them less interesting. Superstar is the generic choice of "best kirby game" on meme power alone, because in reality it's one of the least good - though it is still good.
