He is a better writer than alot of the Black Library but you're right about continuity.
The one that stuck out to me was Ravenor talking to a general or whatnot about Tyranids invading a world or getting closer to a system.
Then later he goes to the witch house and somehow forgets what the fuck 'nids are. Describes them in detail and describes them to a fucking T. even mentions the names of fleets that already fucking happened at that point as if it was the future.
