There is never going to be an XV-2 and they have been extremely firm on this, the entire reason XV even exists in the way it does right now is because they condensed Versus and it's sequels into one single game as FFXV.

It does fit though.
The main theme of the game is bonds, brotherhood, they go on a roadtrip. The game cover even references the Stand By Me film about 4 boys on a journey. The cover in the game also uses the Final Fantasy prelude mixed into it and it also fits into the theme of "fantasy based on reality" that FFXV has, mixing a real song in with a final fantasy song and it being a theme song for the game.
The lyrics for the song also match the story of game about the plague of the stars. "When the night has come, and the land is dark, and the moon is the only light we see", directly references the plague of the stars in FFXV making nights longer and eventually perpetual, and the moon is the only light in the sky.
It's such a perfect fit for a theme song.
