>tfw sudden vertigo attack last week for no reason, feel like the room turns around me
>go see a specialist
>apparently it's nothing, just a small vertigo attack that can happen for various reasons
>since then i suffer from "visual vertigo" and can hardly stay in front of a computer screen let alone play video games

Man this shit fucking sucks. Should i find a new hobby ? I'm stressed as fuck.
>>
maybe u should suck my cock u retard idiot
>>
>>340267876
wow rude dude
>>
>>340267820
Did it come with a hot flash?
>>
>>340268004
Not really, no. It just came suddenly after a standard day. It was like 30 seconds long or so.

Since then i suffer from visual vertigo. An example : watching a movie with a plane in the air makes uncomfortable like i'm actually on the plane and not sitting in my couch. Same thing with video-games or when i scroll fast on the 4chan catalog.
>>
Hope you've gotten a 2nd opinion. Doctors can be ignorant about a lot of things you'd think they'd know. Even specialists.
>>
>>340268190
Yeah i did actually. The verdict of visual vertigo was from a second specialist. The first one told me it was "probably nothing and keep moving on with my life". I didn't accepted that retarded shit.

>watching a movie with a plane in the air makes uncomfortable like i'm actually on the plane and not sitting in my couch
That's hype
How do I get visual vertigo?
>>
>>340268076
>after a standard day
Do you use flux, or something else to adjust monitor/screen brightness?

Also, do you tilt your monitor back away from you slightly?
>>
>>340268495
>Do you use flux, or something else to adjust monitor/screen brightness?

No but i use a flicker-free, high refresh rate IPS monitor with good calibration. I don't think one second that the monitor is concerned i'm the problem here.

>Also, do you tilt your monitor back away from you slightly?

A little bith.
>>
>>340268414
>That's hype

No it's not. You feel like shit trust me, you don't feel "immersed", or yes you do in a way but you only feel the worst sensations of the said immersion.
>>
>>340268076
100% stress related
>>
>>340268990
There's a psychologic factor, guaranteed.

But visual vertigo is 100 % real, Google it. I'm not making shit up.
>>
>>340268817
It sounds to me like eye strain. You focus intently on a bright object very close to your face that is full of moving parts (well, moving images).

Let me guess, your day job involves 8 hours of staring at a monitor or written documents or other similarly near-focused, neck-craned-down tasks?

Try playing on a TV at least 12' away from you (more is better), ideally with slightly reduced backlighting. Failing that, do like the 3DS instructions and take a break every half hour to look at something far away for a minute or so.

Your eyes were not meant to work the way you're using them. The muscles used to track movement are meant to work on far-away objects. Close range vision is for temporarily inspecting details.
>>
>>340267820
something similar to this happened to me years ago, i'd have a sense of vertigo and be light-headed feeling all the time for a week or two at a time and then it would go away. happened three or four times and then never again.
>>
>>340269126
Dude, I know I have it myself that's why I'm saying that it's probably stress only.

Anything going on with you? Stress with school, work or relationship?
>>
>>340269235
>Let me guess, your day job involves 8 hours of staring at a monitor or written documents or other similarly near-focused, neck-craned-down tasks?

Exactly and with perfect accuracy. I literal work on Indesign all day making paper documents.

That being said i saw an eye specialist too, and he said my problems weren't related to that. Eye strain cannot provoke dizziness, not at this stage and not with my eye condition at least.

>>340269389
He says that, but then

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_vision_syndrome

>Computer vision syndrome (CVS) is a condition, often temporary, resulting from focusing the eyes on a computer or other display device for protracted, uninterrupted periods of time. Some symptoms of CVS include headaches, blurred vision, neck pain, redness in the eyes, fatigue, eye strain, dry eyes, irritated eyes, double vision, vertigo/dizziness, polyopia, and difficulty refocusing the eyes.
>>
>>340269572
Sure, not denying anything, but what you quoted is still pretty accurate for SPECIFIC scenarios :

>resulting from focusing the eyes on a computer or other display device for protracted, uninterrupted periods of time

In my case i feel dizzy since a fucking week, and 'ive been in front of a screen for what, two hours at the very best during the WHOLE week ?
>>
>>340269701
Yeah but
(a) you still stare at things all day which means your eye muscles aren't recovering properly; running up a flight of stairs ain't a 5K but I sure wouldn't expect to do it as fast as usual the week after I ran a 5K
(b) you are stressed about your health, and your brain is dialing up every sensation even remotely potentially possibly could be maybe perhaps related to the symptoms you've identified to fucking 12 on the intensity dial, because that's what you're expecting/hoping to find to confirm your diagnosis.

Sensations you probably experienced and shrugged off every day for years without realizing it, now feel like new "symptoms" because you are diagnosing yourself with a mysterly illness and you NEED symptoms.
>>
>>340270206
Very probable and you're probably right, but even then realizing that won't help me much, outside of stressing less because of the acquired awareness.

But in the end what's the solution ? I already feel less stressed than a week ago, and i still feel dizzy in front of a fucking screen or in fast peripheral moving things in general.
>>
You can feel vertigo from fear alone or even just imagining the feeling too hard.

I've never had "visual vertigo" but I've managed to worry myself into feeling lightheaded/dizzy before. But maybe it could be a physical thing.
>>
>>340270416
Play on a far away screen (hook your computer up to your damn TV), take breaks to look at objects far away.

If you feel a spell coming on, try closing one eye first for a little while, then the other.

Rest the muscles is my point.
>>
>>340270617
Yeah why not, i will, doesn't cost much.

That being said i'm still absolutely not convinced that "stress" and "obsession" alone is causing my symptoms.
>>
>>340267820
FYI - my aunt suffered from visual vertigo for 20 years. It got worse and worse until she had to go to specialists. They couldn't figure it out until they went to a brain specialist that knew what it was immediately. She had a small pocket of fluid building up over a part of her brain and applying pressure.

The second that he drilled and opened that small pocket up, her vertigo went away (she was awake during the procedure). She can now drive, watch TV, and use a computer.
>>
>>340270749
I wasn't either, and I was dealing with panic attacks for a year. But that's neither here nor there, the point is, relax your eyes often and you'll feel better.
>>
>>340270913
Wow! All at the same time??
>>
>>340270913
Interesting. How did they discovered it, MRI ?
