I want to start the Ys serie using my computer but there are quite a lot of different games avaible on Steam.
In what order do I need to play the games?
Ys thread I guess
Ys I & II or Oath in Felghana are good starts, depends if you'd enjoy classic games. Oath I can recommend to anyone.

Thanks, I guess I'll either start with 1 or origin.
I don't mind older gameplay and will for sure play them all if I enjoy it, I was just wondering the right order.
Start with Napishtim. It's fun but not as good at the other titles so you won't be dissapointed when you play it.
You can also start in 1&2 which introduces you to some of the characters. Make sure you play 1&2 at least before playing Origins since their stories are directly linked to one another. Most people don't like the combat in those games but I think it's fine. Be weary of the level design in 2 though. Every area is a maze in the worst sense of the word.
Start with Ys I if you're an OG motherfucker and have interest in the bump combat games.
Otherwise Oath in Felghana is a good starting point. But it's also arguably the best game in the series, so you may not want to start at the peak and go down.
My preferred order is chronological.
>Ys I
>Ys II
>Origin or Oath, doesn't really matter
>Dawn of Ys
>Ys VI
>Ys Seven
Memories of Celceta can be substituted in for Dawn of Ys, but I prefer the latter. Still worth playing Celceta, though. Anything not mentioned is shit. Everything can be played on PC one way or another.

Consider this guy, too. It's harder to go back to Ys VI after playing Origin and Oath, so it can be a good place to start. The story is pretty self-contained, so you won't be missing anything.

It's only the mindfuck underground area before the final boss in 2 thats really a clusterfuck, the rest is fine

>>340249625
Thanks, I'll start with 1 and 2 then since rough gameplay isn't a problem.

Nevermind I said chronological. I don't know if that's even true. I think I just listed release order with Oath and Origin snuck in there.
Play A through X first

I started with Origins but that or Oath in Felghana would be good choices

>Be weary of the level design in 2 though. Every area is a maze in the worst sense of the word.
>mfw playing Mask of the Sun
That game can suck my fucking dick.
Play Ys I&II.
Origins.
Then forget the rest, Ys is dead after.
YsI&II = best Ys, with best Ys.

>Origins
I've only played 1&2 and I'm feeling like sticking with the bumper car games before moving on. Should I play Mask of the Sun, Dawn of Ys, or both?

Definitely play Dawn of Ys. It's a fantastic game. If you can find it, there's also a nice fandub floating around that sounds like it came straight out of the early 90s.
Avoid Mask of the Sun unless you want to see the series at its absolute worst.
Ark of Nap was fun
oath in felghana is probably the best start. Ignore the faggots saying 1+2. Those are best left for after you have decided you like the series as the combat is very different.

Git gud and play both nigga, also all Ys 3 versions you can play. But if you can only play one of each do them on Turbografx.

Origin is one of the recent games before Seven came. But it's fine.
>>340251529
Origins is the best you dumb frogposter
>>340259507
Origins doesn't exist retard.
