I Wanna Be The Guy is just an absurd test of memorization. I appreciates the game's humor but I don't think it's actually enjoyable.
AVGN Adventure was decent, the jokes get old though.
Shovel Knight is the best actual full fledged game in that I could imagine it actually being made in the 80s.

Abobo was a shitty game with a nonsensical nor funny plot line that just seems to pander to millennial humor. It was bugged as fuck and frankly, NES Remix did it WAY better.
AVGN Adventures wasn't really about the old games, but more about just being a tribute to AVGN. Which I felt succeeded massively in that factor, and had some pretty decent gameplay to boot.
I wanna be the guy is an action puzzler that had references to old games, but little else to do with the subject.
The obvious winner is Shovel Knight.
