It's way better than V. Niko is by far the best GTA protagonist. CJ is slightly more believable but I never really liked CJ. Niko is just screwed by circumstance and he doesn't know how to make good friends aside from Little Jacob.

GTA IV was my favorite, just because of the physics engine, the car handling, and all of the attention to detail. I've never really found the missions all that engaging in any of the GTA games, and GTA IV was the one game where fucking around was fun enough for the game to be worth playing without them.
