This is the most shit game I've ever played
Am I supposed to explore the entire colony in Gothic before moving on to Chapter 2? I am currently at level 8, but there are a few things I haven't been able to clear yet. Crypt with skellies, the orc camp (I've scouted that place from above, shit is huge), that fucking bridge with the goblins. The locked places like the cave with the skull entrance I assume are intentionally locked for now.
Also, of the regular enemies I can't really defeat Bloodhounds, Swampsharks, and whatever the fuck those huge hairy sabertiger things are yet. Thing is, I don't know if I'm supposed to be able to exterminate everything now and if they'll be replaced with something stronger once a new chapter starts.
So yeah, should I continue with the main quest, or finish up exploring first?
Also, what's the level cap?

There is a level cap but also there are no regularly respawning enemies so sooner or later you'll run out of EXP to earn. It's 50 as far as I know but I'm not sure about enemies respawning in between acts, only know that Risen does that.

They're unconventional aRPGs. I wouldn't put them on any "best RPG" list, though, since the actual RPG mechanics are the most lacking parts of the game.

Not the entire colony. There are some places (like the ones you mentioned) that are either closed off due to story elements or have enemies too tough for you to fight at that point.
IIRC I could beat Bloodhounds in Chapter 1 with some difficulty, but definitely not Swampsharks or Shadowbeasts (the sabertiger things), so don't worry about them right now. At the beginning of each chapter, +1 of an enemy is added to every "herd" in the world. Say for example, you kill off all the scavengers in one area in chapter 1, when you go back to that area in chapter 2, there will be one scavenger. Because of this, it's recommended that you kill everything you reasonably can during every chapter so as to not lose out on experience, but honestly I gave up on that around halfway through the game and didn't seem to be underlevelled at any point.
No idea what the level cap actually is, but I was at level 31 at the end of the game when I played it, and was able to comfortably finish the game.

I'm in the middle of my first run and I'm using it. I'm playing without any weapons without any gear except boots and pants, blazing through the game with fists only. I feel this build started to become OP once I hit over 100 str and hand to hand, now I drain every enemies entire stamina bar with a single punch while sprinting at ninja speed with both acrobatics and athletics over 100. Thanks for the info, anon. This game is so great, I'm glad I decided to stick with it despite freaking out over the controls when I started. At first I couldn't really get into it, but with mastered one-handed combat finally has a very nice rhythm to it. I don't think I've ever enjoyed just going around fighting things this much in an RPG before.

Man, such a disappointment. I really enjoyed it, the story was nice, the gameplay was fun, the characters were interesting. And then I get to the underground infinite demon spawning area where they'll kill your team in seconds and I just stopped. I must've spent 3 hours in that area and didn't even get half way through. Such a horribly paced area.

Champions of Krynn, and all the others in the Krynn series (featured in the world of Dragonlance, which is the GOAT setting for any rpg), the Savage Frontier series, which is where Neverwinter Nights started as an MMORPG via AOL in 1991.

I'm still rather new to Morrowind, but this is how I did it:
Grab code patch so you increase your damage from strength, put your points into endurance, agility and strength, speed is also good. Also, grab restoration. Once you've made it past the first hour or so your h2h will be high enough to kill almost anything by just stunlocking it.
