Even if you are grinding through DLC, the game is built so that you can always beat it without grinding.
Stop wasting EXP on bad units.
Actually think about your strategy with what weapons to use and what unit to use.
Start making decisions that account for the possibility for everything to go wrong. If a unit has a 99% chance to hit, think of it as if you're going to miss, because it could happen. If an enemy has a 3% chance to crit, and a 36% chance to hit, act like both will happen.
Of course, if you started the series with Awakening, I can understand why you wouldn't do these. Awakening is terribly balanced, so you can effectively do whatever you want in the game and still win.
