I won't deny it's an unabashed WoW clone but I don't get the single player criticism. The game does a great deal to encourage cooperation. They even take steps to keep old content relevant for the veteran players so the new folks can see itand so they won't have to make more shit because budget
It continued the story from 1.0 which I thought was really awesome, but that could go either way for people.
And removing anything Uematsu is a tragedy but the people they have working on the OST now are doing well. The music in Heavensward is mostly fantastic.

The only game that is actually about Lightning is LR.
In FF13 it's an ensemble cast and if anything the story revolves around Vanille and her actions, she even narrates the story. Lightning is just the introductory character and face to the game but after chapter 11 she just falls into the background.
In FF13-2 she's in it for like 10 minutes, you play as Serah and Noel while Lightning is only at the very beginning and very end.

The Story from 2.0 was cliche, but holds up as FF story all in all without trying to reinvent itsself.
