Combat is neat in this game. It's similiar to Starbound in that the monsters have abilities, but it's not procedural generation "Look I bounce".
Enemies can randomly have modifiers, like extra crit, explode on death, etc;
First hostile monster I met was the zombie, it had a mid range puke attack, which looked great. (the pixel art is spot on) a standard attack, and an attack where it leaps behind you and lunges. Pretty interesting first enemy.

Looks decent, but look at Starbound. Game got major updates often, design changed to better suit community demands, and the framework is there for 1.0 so you know it's on the final stretch to full release; however, it treated Early Access development as a development method instead of just an extended beta. For that, the game will never get any widespread.
This game looks like it brings some interesting mechanics to the table, and there will always be a place in peoples' hearts for dinosaurs, but it needs to get out of Early Access ASAP or else it's not going to get any love.
