It's just much more difficult to get invested emotionally the older and more jaded you get.
I find I have to force myself, but I never get the same feelings as I used to - close, but not quite the same.
Not to say it's impossible to still feel from games, it just requires you leave your real-world baggage at the gate when you play the game.
Unless it's some form of depression causing it in a really bad way, it's probably just a symptom of being otherwise mentally occupied.

I know that feeling. Been playing RPG games left and right and i just can't get that adventure/immersion feeling from anything. I have played Divinity Original Sin, Pillars of eternity, kings and heroes, all 3 dungeon sieges ect. Heck. I even played Fallout 4 as last resort but nothing just appears appealing to me. Im probably one of few people around who didn't even like witcher 3 at all.
I still love every game I pick out, because I was always choosy with what I bought. Like I picked games like Tales of Symphonia over higher rated games at the time. I picked up EDF2017 because it sounded like fun
Protip: Stop going for shitty games and you'll be fine. Though I will say the vast majority of RPGs these days are fucking terrible. They are just badly made cookie cutter crap. Also voice acting totally ruined the genre, made it too expensive to write lots of dialogue and it sounds like absolute garbage
