Titanfall is fun as fuck. Despite the complexity of the environment, it was amazingly balanced overall given the three layers of combined arms fighting going on, Grunts, Pilots and giant robots. The weapon balance was pretty good on launch, but a patch not too long after fixed that shit up and the underappreciated guns like the Hemlock got a needed boost. Satchel Charges are still bullshit.

They played the game like COD. EVERYONE. Not the two most recent CODs (which copied the jumpjet and wall running stuff from Titanfall), but classic COD as in grounded soldiers, no jumping even though the core of Pilots in TF is jumping and running on walls. Watching console gamers play Titanfall was like pulling teeth. It was so disheartening to see how far the game's concept flew over players' heads.

Origin was mandatory, that's not a real negative, but fuck Origin.
While not quite as woeful as the console players, most people simply could not get into the game's mechanics. It is one of the more complex shooters, execution-wise. It's like adding CS Surf mechanics to Unreal Tournament 2K4.
To grasp the Pilot's capacity for high speed when chaining together consecutive wall-runs, finding effective routes to maintain speed and make use of the long-standing game engine quirks to go even faster, it's not something that falls into your lap. You had to learn that shit or else you were going a fraction of the speed of everyone else.
Despite all of the dismissive faggots saying that being in a Titan is just "you're a bigger infantryman", the strategy for fighting in your giant robot was very different from fighting on-foot with a lot of different advantages and disadvantages. Good players could make one giant robot last the entire match.
