How important is resolution to you? I've been playing the Witcher 3 with a GPU bottleneck at 1080p, but after tossing it down to 1600x900, the increase in FPS has made the experience way more tolerable for me. Going from 40-45 to 50-60 is worth the bit of blurring.
Are you a resolution snob?

Clearly either retarded motion blur option ticked on or it's a default feature and the 1st pic is in motion and the 2nd pic is still.
This image is not even remotely representative of the difference in resolution. OP knew this and he chose to make a thread where people will argue and shitpost.
Please do not reply to this thread and sage if you HAVE to reply.
I won't usually lower the res till I have to. (aka witcher 3) Had to drop to fhd from qhd and it hurts.
>Tfw my 290x died this week and got a GTS 250 now.
it really pisses me off how some games still have jaggies at 1080 16 AA
thats just poor game making
Fps > resolution. Gimme 720p 60fps over 1080p 30fps any day.Not that you need to compromise of you go PC

I love how some games have almost no jaggies at all when compared to other games.
Pic kinda related
>>340097987
Does the jump to 4k resolution help this? I've noticed it as well.
It's funny, not too long ago I would've said 1080p was all I'd need, but it's starting to look worse and worse as time goes on.

Fairly. I have to play at my monitor's native resolution which is 1080p.
Not that it matters on pc.
I'm playing The Witcher 3 currently on 900p instead of 1080p to keep a steady 40 fps with nearly everything on ultra except for the really taxing stuff. If I were to put it on 1080p I'd have to downgrade my graphics and I still probably wouldn't hit a stable 40fps.
My rig is not that great but I came to the conclusion that 40fps is the real minimum I'm willing to play a game at; it feels a lot better than 30 eventhough it's only 10 fps more. Playing on a lower res is kinda shitty at first as you do notice the blur when comparing it to your native res, but after a while you get used to it and it's not so jarring.
Stable FPS > Graphics > Resolution

Resolution is the most important to me. If I lower it, I always play with scaling off because I prefer black borders to a blurry image.
It's all subjective but I prefer resolution over other things in most games.
For instance I played VC at 5k 30fps instead of 4k 60fps and I played Black Flag at 1440p 30 instead of 1080p 45~
>>340098648
Resolution is more important than graphics because aliasing is shit tier and ruins good graphics.
>>340097012
1080p or bust.
1440p, and I'll drop whatever settings I need to get 50+ fps
>>340099919
>Resolution is more important than graphics
Resolution IS graphics.
-_-
>>340100154
1080p isn't even good enough for most modern games.
>>340100484
Resolution is the resolution. Most graphical settings scale with it.
They're separate.
>>340100580
1080p is fine, nigga.
>>340100154
Screw that , 1200 or bust.
>>340100739
Only if you like tons of aliasing and blurry textures.
>>340098528
Shitty AA implementations. MSAA doesn't work very well when you bloat your game with post-processing. You can play any 2013> game at 8x AA on a 1080p monitor without noticing jaggies. Obviously supersampling will fix it, but that requires shitload of VRAM on top of actually being able to render the game at higher resolutions.
>>340097012
Gaming on a 1440p monitor is great, for the most part.
Everything looks amazing but my 780 is starting to struggle.
Hitman told me I couldn't play at anything other than 1080, but insisted I play full screen with everything on ultra, no option to reduce graphical settings and up to my native resolution.
DOOM is the benchmark for me, 1080p ultra is 60+fps, 1440p medium is 40/50
Waiting to upgrade, but will wait on the 1080ti.
Resolution is very important to me, especially considering I have 2 1440p monitors.
Given a choice of 1440p lower graphical fidelity and 1080p everything ultra I will go 1440 every day.
>>340097012
Depends. I always want a full 1080p where possible of course but FPS goes first.
I also have less of an issue to turn down the resolution if there is an slider for it so the menu resolution won't get turned down but only the render resolution like thankfully more and more games support these days
