when you see forks/different paths in games, how do you usually interact with them?
choose one all the way to the end then backtrack if you find a dead end, or choose one and do it halfway for each paths and then choose the one you think would be right?
I pick the one that looks like it won't take me to the game's current objective, then I explore, back track and continue on

>left shows no clear opening
side quest, hard as shit monsters, rare items and possible shit you'll miss if you don't do it now
>right is bright and sunny off in the distance
mainline, choo-choo onward to next boss, enjoy your vanilla run
If it's Skyrim, walk down it a bit, if it's not a dead end I back track and check the other to get whatever was in the dead end one then go back to the other.

I turn off the game because branching paths is awful game design. No one wants to accidentally stumble upon a boss and miss items you only have one chance at getting.

git gud faget
>>340066086
>walk a little down one path
>this looks like the way to progress the story
>turn around to go down the other path
>2nd path was the actual progression path
>can't go back to first path
>missed a treasure chest
>one is for a side quest the other is for the main quest
>obviously have to go for side quest first
>take a guess
>it turns out to be the main quest
literally always
>pick one way
>it goes on for a while so figure it must lead to the boss
>turn back so I can check the other one
>just kidding this one was the boss route
>also you can't go back the way you came now
>reset game and lose an hour of play
remind me why "exploring" is supposed to be fun again

I hate this. Fuck this shit.

I go right because right is always right.

>the review sites I visit tell me options in games that don't need then are good, so it must be good!
Must be hard not having an opinion of your own.

Every. Fucking. Time.

But 3 rights make a left.
It really shouldn't matter. If both paths are not viable routes forward then that is a sign of bad game design. If both paths are worthwhile that adds replayability. If the game has gratuitous backtracking I just quit right there.

Every god damned shit fuckcocking time.
There are but a few games where story branching actually happens and I have yet to play one.
And I'm not talking about binary choices where you're either the good or the bad guy, choices that don't influence the game at all save for two or three conversations or clusterfucks like ME3
