I'm want to reexpierence the gamecube, been reading it has issues with HD tvs. which console would be best for gamecube.. the Wii or the gamecube?

It works fine, you can just rule out the chance of using a high quality component cable because those things cost a shitton for the gamecube.
Luckily the Wii ones are freely available. You can pirate Gamecube games on Wii easily which is also good.

Very simple, the GC compatible ones have the word 'Wii' written horizontally.
The 'Family edition' is vertical.
Avoid the Wii mini.
