It's related to that moms that are antifun thing. The only actual dedicated shitposting brigade /k/ brought against these is the Brady Campaign one, which actually posted some of the shops.

The thing with snipers is that they can either be huge faggots or the single most important member of your team.

A good sniper can easily singlehandely win you the game. A bad sniper is dead weight.

In battlefield for example this is really obvious. A good recon using a sniper will put respaqn beacons behind enemy lines to completely fuck up the enemy team, and can watch over the plant sites in Rush to make sure nobody can plant the bomb, or once the bomb is planted, just kill anybody who goes to disarm it.

moms and dads generally react very differently to having kids. moms become extremely overprotective of them and dads want to live out their hypermasculine fantasies through them.

hence why moms want to ban anything that could be dangerous to kids.

Try googling moms against guns

The thing about snipers is that they very much have the capability of killing a man with one shot to center mass, and that makes them OP. To prevent weapons being OP, it has to take 2+ shots or have the aiming take time so nobody can quick scope.

So here is a suggestion. If it's a realistic game, a shot from a sniper rifle should cause a bleed out effect depending on where the target was hit such as getting hit in the liver should cause a much faster bleed out than a shot to the gut. So, got shot by a sniper? Call a medic and hope to god you don't die. Didn't get healed? You die from one bullet. Not only will this give 12 year old cunts a lesson in anatomy, but they would have to give better focus on where they are aiming.
I think Red Orchestra 2 does this, not sure though.

I only played realistic, so I can tell you if you get shot by a sniper you're dead.
>>
>>340038564
nah if you take a round from a sniper rifle in RO2 (which a lot of them are just the rifleman's rifle with a scope slapped on, so you're dealing with a rifleman that has an optic advantage) one shot center mass will put you the fuck down unless you're on casual mode. You might have three seconds to empty a mag while bleeding out, but if it does anything but graze a limb you're a goner.

Having sniper rifles in games would be okay if there were actually a need in games for long range recon/assassination of important targets from several hundered meters. In most games they're just cannons for engagements beyond 50 meters, while assault rifles are for 30 meter engagements/CQB, SMGs are for 15 meters, and shotguns are useless beyond 5 meters.

Arma 2/3 are the only games where I can think that you would have any reason to take a sniper rifle, and even then the meta choice is a DMR/rifle with ACOG/the first available semi-auto anti material rifle. In 3 it's a bit better since you can rarely actually see out to 1.5 km and shoot someone.
>>
>>340038146

I'm like 95% sure that's a fake one. I remember a while back /k/ or someone else started cranking out shitloads of hilariously bad campaign posters like that in order to sort of undermine the anti-gun shit on social media.

I remember a specific case where someone posted one to facebook that was essentially "just let him rape you, it's better than murdering him" and Brady "liked" it or something for a while before they realized what happened.

Really the whole thing was fucking brilliant. It's become hard to tell the fakes from the abominably retarded real ones at this point.

>>340038717
The same sort of logic applies to most other games too, even shit like Halo: you can kill the other team without them being able to fight back if you are good, if you aren't good, you don't hit shit and waste valuable ammo

Red Orchestra 2.
>>
>>340036135

None that are mainstream.

A sniper rifle isn't made for the environment that many games take place in. Trying to maintain their regular use while placing it in a game where there isn't more than 100m of clerance in any direction is impossible to balance.

>I think Red Orchestra 2 does this, not sure though.

In RO2 most shots to the body with a rifle will kill instantly. If to the head or vitals it is instant kill. If to the limbs you have a few moments to apply field bandages before you bleed out. This saves you and you can still fight.

Snipers aren't that powerful in RO2 because their rifle is no more powerful than the regular rifleman's. He just has a scope, which means he can spot you from further away than you can spot him. Of course in RO2 you know not to stand in the open where a sniper will get you.

Red Orchestra 2 doesn't have a big deal with snipers because the regular rifleman has a nearly equal weapon. The problem is that in other games players are bullet sponges that are unusually weak against rifles with scopes for no reason.

Snipers are pretty balanced in Splatoon.
>>
>>340039245
This is just a matter of semantics, you can call them DMs if you want to.

Not to mention snipers are usually too poweful rather than too weak like you are suggesting.

BC2'S recon is great because, if you're playing right, you're at mid range, using your sensors to spot enemy players for your teammates, using mortars on holed up enemies or vehicles, and using C4 to ambush tank or break walls hiding enemies. If you're just holding back and sniping you're only using 1/10 o fthe class's potential
