What do they mean by this?

Gameplay > Graphics

Which is true. That said, having both isn't exactly a bad alternative.
>>
>>340012927
This, and to take it further, it basically means a game that focuses on perfecting gameplay will always beat one that focuses on perfecting grafics. A great game can have good graphics but it's games like Deus Ex that stand up even over time as long as you don't get babbys that "can't play it because the graphics are too dated".

It's a fairly meaningless point, since its generally separate people that make the graphics and the game play.

Can you do Fire before Forest? I know you can break sequence (I actually did Fire last on my last run) but it's pretty heavily suggested that you do Forest first.

That's because "realistic" 3d graphics become outdated extremely fast.

Cartoony and stylized games have aged the best.

If anything you could make a strong argument that Fire is supposed to come first.

>first thing you see out the door of the Temple of Time is Death Mountain. I think the owl tells you as a child that the color of its rings signal its state.
>closest temple geographically after you get the Hookshot.
>Navi asks you if you think Sheik can be trusted.
>In the future, you have to remember how to get to the Sacred Meadow. There's no hints and no music to tell you like the first time you find it. Meaning, if you forget, then you're most likely to wander into Goron City.

Also, if you're playing Master Quest, then you need Din's Fire to even breech beyond the first room. Din's Fire is suggested to you by the Great Fairy of Magic to get next time you're in town. Which isn't until Zelda's capture. Naturally to test out your new fire item you'd head towards a volcano if you got it just before becoming adult Link.

Kind of true. OoT's controls aren't great. Not terrible, but sluggish in several respects. The game design is what has held up better.

The Fire Temple doesn't need the bow at all, so you can do it first if you want. Water Temple is the same, but you need to use your keys strategically by saving and quitting.

God I miss those fucking games. It's so weird we used to have a Skateboarding genre, but they were just the comfiest goddamn games and I have no idea why.

Something zen about the late 90's music choices and the painfully Gen X taste of it all. Wish I could bottle that shit.

Seconded. Cell Shading makes the world look good, but you need to be VERY careful with the models for it to last.

Obviously, 2d sprite based games are still the best.
>>
>>340014013

That game is more renown for its visuals and atmosphere than the actual gameplay. WW is not of the better Zeldas design-wise.
>>
It's true

Nobody is going to remember games like uncharted, or the order 1886 - 10, 20 or more years from now.

The best looking games of 2015 or 2016 won't continue being the best looking games of 2025. And when the massive selling point of the games are "LOOK HOW PRETTY IT IS" that's a problem

Fucking what? No it's not. Maybe a few minutes. Also, using OoT as an example of great gameplay is such a typical thing. Whoever made that needs to get some taste instead of being person number 100,000,000 to blindly worship OoT.

>>
>>340013584
Fire and Forest can be done in any order with little difficulty, as neither as any essential items which require items from the other dungeon to use (ie,you don't need the bow for fire or megaton hammer for forest).

Water is a little trickier. There's 2 keys locked behind switches activated with the bow, but there's 2 doors you can skip.
1) The first door is the locked door to the central chamber at the bottom level. You can skip it by either saving & reloading/using farore's wind to return to the top level and jumping to the middle level, or by using the hookshot to reach the hookshot points and angling your fall to land on the middle sections. Either one works. Then light the torches with Din's fire and you're in the central chamber, saving you 1 key
2) The second skipable locked door leads to the Triforce symbol that raises the water level to maximum. To skip, you must jump to this ledge from top level of the central chamber. Specifically, you roll just as you reach the corner, which accelerates your jump, and as long as you land near the far side of the ledge, you'll grab it and be able to pull yourself (landing on the close/right hand side causes link to spaz out and fall) as there is some sort of barrier that prevents link from grabbing the ledge properly. Once there, you can play the scarecrow song allowing you to get back with just the hookshot.
So doing water before forest is a little on the sequence braking side. Part of me feels that Nintendo may have originally intended for it to be the norm, but at the last moment decided to prevent the player from doing so (much like the boulders leading to Zora's river). Still, doing Water before Fire is perfectly normal and results in no sequence braking.

You can also do Spirit before Shadow, and the Gerudo Training ground is one of the least linear dungeons in Zelda as it's got way more keys than are necessary to access the Ice Arrows, so you are fairly free to pick and choose which rooms you complete

Where are you getting this information from?

I didn't even know about the scarecrow in the Water Temple. I have seen it in that one Zelda modder Pieter or whatever on Youtube, but I thought he had hacked it in.

Are you the same guy who wrote >>340016228

>>340017685
Oh yeah, you're right. I did it with Farore's Wind.
>>
>>340018228
>Where are you getting this information from?
personal experience for the most part. Although the 2nd skip in water temple (specifically the jump) I learned from a post here in /v/ (although not the one above), but I've replicated it in my last few playthroughs. it's pretty easy to do once you work out where the barrier that causes link to spaz out ends

Oh, and the stuff about the Zora's Rivers boulders was read in an article somewhere a while back. If you think about it, it's actually really obvious in hindsight because it is literally the only place you need to use bombs while trying to get the Zora's Sapphire

>I didn't even know about the scarecrow in the Water Temple
there's actually a ton of them all over the place, usually hiding Golden Skulltulla's, including young Link dungeons. It's pretty cool really
>>
>>340018751
I know. I already knew about the jump to the ledge thing. I did it before I even knew OoT was nonlinear.

I also knew about the boulders, although I will trade you for that tidbit about the scarecrow.

The reason why those boulders are there is a simple oversight I will explain at some point if you follow @lorebro64 on twitter. They weren't added to cockblock your ability to deviate from a path. It was just a mistake, that would have probably been fixed if OoT had been a PS1 game with demo disks, but to say the obvious, then it wouldn't be OoT.
