The Precursors is a slav game kinda in the vein of STALKER but set in the distant future & not post-apocalyptic. You travel to different planets, & the very first planet is pretty much a desert hellhole.
Then there's NaissanceE which has a rather wtf desert area late into the game, but I'll be damned if it isn't a really beautiful desert. Seriously the whole game is about visual porn & the desert no less so.

I actually can't recall a desert area that I didn't like. It's always been my favorite environment in games. Even Quest 64 had one I enjoyed.

Jak 3's desert was one of the worst things about it.
Not only was the stuff you did there repetitive but those raiders were EVERYWHERE.
At least the Krimzon guard could be totally avoided in 2.
