Out of the box. And this was before internet became widespread. Nowadays a dev can push a patch to fix a game breaking bug while you're asleep and you might not even know about it, but back in the day it was hard to even find out of there was a patch, especially if you didn't have internet.

When Bethesda releases their next game and it's full of bugs and broken quests think about how players felt playing Arena, getting their game breaking bugs patched out from a floppy they had to have sent to them.

I did discover falling through the castle wall in Super Mario 64, that's the biggest thing that comes to memory.

The only thing that actually genuinely pissed me was off was ironically enough something that came from 2002, Star Fox Adventures. A actual glitch prevented me from progressing any further in one of my saves, and I had to delete my file. Oh yes, and being able to save right before falling down a pit in Lord of the Rings for PS2, also causing me to delete my save.

I think 2000s were more frustrating for me than the 90s. I've dealt with more bullshit in these years than I can count.

It mostly feels like games are getting more generic in order to cater as wide an audience as possible without risking much. They just say they are but the game-play has suffered for just about every game that's broadened their scope instead of focused on their core audience.

>>
>>340014409

Oh yeah I've heard some really shitty things about Pirates of the Caribbean for Xbox. That bad huh? That's what gets me the most. Graphical glitches I don't care about, I'll live. But when you can't progress any further, or a game is practically unplayable that just takes the fucking cake.

Maybe it's because in the 6th gen, three dimensional video games were still kind of young. I thought I heard somewhere that with 3D comes more complications.
>>
Godammit why did you remind me of this movie op.

Feels bad never having a girlfriend or being loved . I'm 22 and I already feels like I'm done. it's over, no more cute girls and dates and first timers because everyone has already done it and is experienced. I feel so left behind and I feel like shit.
>>
>>340014820
>That bad huh?
Yes. Poor performance, many graphical effects and animations simply aren't there, many quests are bugged, items can disappear from your inventory for no reason, saves can corrupt for no reason, and the game crashes fucking constantly. All of this is especially bad considering the actual game has potential to be fun, like a more complex Sid Meier's Pirates. Thankfully, the PC version with fanmade patches works pretty well.
>>
>>340015794
You have no idea how I feel you, anon. My point is that YOUR first love is the only one that should matter to you. Why are you worrying about some guy she dated when she was 16 or something? 99% of the people on the planet don't end up with their first love. Most people really don't give a shit about it either. Have some perspective.
>>
>>340016582

You have to understand that in the bigger scheme of things, theres really no point if youre first or last. Eventually, the honeymoon will end, for them, for you and for most people. The hard part is keeping it together even if the feeling of love isnt there. Its a choice, not something predetermined. There will be What Ifs, but in the end, its a commitment.

Well, I seriously hope you're not falling in love with some chick who is cheating on her boyfriend with you. Relationships that start out like that could very easily end the same way. I know from experience.
>Would I be okay knowing I'm not her first (dare I say true) love and whatever she does with me will never compare to what it would be with him?
You seem really hung up on that, but you don't need to be. People don't carry a torch for a past love like that very often. If they're having trouble moving on, it's usually their most recent ex. Most people really aren't comparing every single future partner to their first love.
>>
>2016
>You can just look up gameplay videos and see for yourself if the game looks fun or not
Fuck you fake nostalgia faggots and your retarded nostalgia for the sake of looking cool. You faggots didn't live the misery that was buying games based exclusively on their boxart and what the shills at Nintendo Power told you about them. Game was shit? Tough luck, amigo. And trust me, it often was. Shit games were just as frequent back then as they are now.

I imagine you people are the same going "I love these guys, shame my generation likes Justin Bieber" on a fucking Led Zeppelin video.
>>
It's almost like when you're looking through the past, you forget the shittier moments and remember the best moments fondly.
>>
>>340002790
I think part of it is the way games are designed back then. Before, a company can spend a year+ on a major release just doing bug fixes and polish on a game once the final content is in place. Like you said, they were harder to patch, so stuff HAD to come out in good shape or it would get absolutely trashed.

Now? Games are launched out the door with serious problems due to the idea that "LOLZ WE CAN PATCH IT LATER". It has slowly become a major problem, to the point where some games are launched literally with nothing out of the box.

Worse, some companies do not incorporate bug fixes or DLC into later production runs of their games, so if and when the patches and content for these games are unavailable through official sources then people wanting to replay certain games are screwed unless there is a PC version or archives of the patches exist. We already had this issue with the Xbox with certain games.

Shit sucks all around, and game development is less polished then it used to be.
>>
>>340017827
The whole point is that the older me, and other anons, get in life without having a gf or being loved, the less value this potential relationship can have, because people already experienced a lot and what could come now wont be as special.

>Well, I seriously hope you're not falling in love with some chick who is cheating on her boyfriend with you
I don't fucking know, man. It's not like I can have someone else anytime I want.
>>
>>340018297
>the older me, and other anons, get in life without having a gf or being loved, the less value this potential relationship can have, because people already experienced a lot and what could come now wont be as special.
And I'm telling you that this is an absolutely ridiculous thing to think. Nothing is diminished because you aren't their first. Relax anon.
>>
>>340017285

Falling in love is effortless, keeping it alive through the passage of time requires effort. People often times cheat or decide to throw away something valuable because they feel the ones they chose "werent the one," or they could experience the same magic with another person, not realizing that in the end, what theyre enabling is falling in love with the concept of falling in love, and not really respecting the person they allegedly swore loyalty to.

Its a completely selfish idea and promotes the shit we see these days, that instead of fixing something, they often take it for granted.
>>
>>340018732
But if you're not in love, why would you have to fight for something that you don't care about? The notion that you need to stick with someone for life even if you grow to hate their little quirks, their tastes, and everything about them is very pretentious on your part.
>>

I think his point was that all relationships kind of get stale after many years. It's not that you're not in love anymore, it's just you have to put forth more effort to keep it fresh, and so on.

Also, having kids, and all the bullshit that entails, can leave very little time for that.
