What went wrong, /v/?
Your lazy shitposting
Your mother's contraception.
Not enough software.
The Wii, got worse with Wii U. Then the tyrannical anti-consumer fiesta started happening.

It's not the new staff at Nintendo, it's the all the old staff members who haven't died yet who are still in charge.
>Unless you're a disgusting weeaboo who's mad about the treehouse removing all the underage degeneracy from your precious animu games.
>>339997614
A bunch of 20-30 year old nostalgia fags kept praising bad decision after bad decision. This led to kids and gamers to abandon the company because of the stank of autism surrounding their shitty fanbase.
Everyone knows this except the fanbase.

D-DELETE THIS!
>Underpowered hardware barely any more powerful than Xbox360 and PS3
>Region lock
>Shoehorned fisher price ipad that has 3 hours battery life on average
>No replaceable internal hard drive
>Doesn't come with regular controller
>constantly rehashes their IPs
>Tried to monopolise the early 90's industry and used aggressive business tactics to do so
>Shoehorned miiverse full of retarded kids and pedos
>Shitty account system, purchases tied to the individual consoles
>Poor online features (such as no first party games offering voice chat in-game between strangers)
>E-Shop is a barren wasteland more expensive than physical
>Third party support worse than the fucking N64
>Outdated architecture when literally all the competition PC included uses x86
>400x240 resolution on a handheld in 2016
>cancerous, furry and meme infested fanbase
>Charging a premium price for underpowered hardware
>Now doing DLC (Fire Emblem Awakening DLC all together now costs more than the base game itself) and Season Passes
>Limited fucking demo uses
>NEW 3ds pls buy again
>Censor-sorry, localization that removes content and features
>Forced cult of personality surrounding their execs
>Always trying to ride PC's coattails for legitimacy
>Contributed to reviving consoles from their crash, and ensured that they are relevant today
>In the process, killed Japan's infant PC industry causing their games to be held hostage by consoles
Why do people like, let alone feel the need to defend Nintendo again?

You grew up.
They used to take advantage of the advances in technology, now they just put a coat of paint over New Super Mario Bros every year and a half.
Just fuck my shit up

There's a Fire Emblem game with Animal Crossing characters?
Higher ups wanting Nintendo to become a Disney-esque casual brand instead of just focusing on their strengths as a video game developer, rehashing beloved titles and milking all of the soul out of them in the process while over relying on toy like hardware gimmicks that ultimately just alienates 3rd party developers and gamers alike. That said, they really tried to do right by the hardcore fans with the Wii U on their side, but they yet again underestimated the need for power and lack of gimmicks to remain attractive to publishers and gamers alike, and as much as I love fan service and despite of their... weird censorship practices, the recent influx of fan service in Nintendo titles sort of mirrors their desperation, creating a weird "we want the granny/toddler audience, but also the "hardcore" gamers" vibe that doesn't quite mess together with their brand strategy.

Mostly true, but nintendo has almost nothing to do with pc in japan. Actually, the only reason there ever was pc gaming in japan is because of nintendo. Nintendo was so shitty that smaller developers had to go elsewhere until sega and nec entered the console space. Ever since then, pc gaming declined as nec and sony radically transformed the concept of a platform by reversing the developer/publisher relationship. There was no need to release a game on pc. You could receive all the benefits of independent publishing by working with nec or sony and still can to this day. That's why sony gets so much support even if it doesn't make any sense to most people.
The only reason anyone makes a pc game in japan is to bypass ratings systems or the law. Eroge are released on pc because they would get 18+ ratings, thus barring them from sale on platforms as well as in most stores. On pc, they can be unrated, avoiding this dilemma entirely. Developers mostly release f2ps on pc because of stricter rules regarding f2ps in japan than america. For instance, if you've ever played a game like fate/go or school idol festival, you're actually required by law to provide your age. The amount of money you can spend on f2ps is limited by age to prevent developers from exploiting minors with what is essentially gambling. On pc there are no such rules. So yeah, now you know where 99% of jp pc games come from. They're either nukige or scams.
