I don't know, the one i remember the most is the horse armor. I remember reading an article on a magazine saying something along the lines of "even if this was ok, what does this say about the future? What if developers start selling weapons and units that are just better than the free ones?" Fast forward to the present and not only did it happen, it's pretty much seen as a normal and acceptable business practice.
